My relationship with Nicholas had started perfectly. He was a loving, thoughtful, and gentlemanly young man, with an impeccable image and a great talent for sports. However, everything changed drastically when he first tried drugs. Addiction quickly took hold of him, bringing with it severe physical and behavioral changes; not even a shadow of the person he used to be remained. His health deteriorated rapidly, leaving me feeling utterly helpless as I watched him waste away day by day. To make matters worse, his smoking habit only exacerbated the situation, further diminishing his physical condition.

The day of the soccer tournament arrived, and Nicholas insisted on participating despite not being in optimal condition. He looked exhausted, pale, and had prominent dark circles under his eyes that betrayed his state.
