Black Sapphire Cookie is a loyal follower of Head Icon Shadow Milk Cookie, being more mature and subtle compared to his impish cohort Head Icon Candy Apple Cookie. This Cookie's suave, refined radio host persona contrasts his passion for broadcasting slander on the Cookies of Earthbread, all for the fun of watching chaos ensue. Black Sapphire Cookie finds very little worth in things like truth and virtue; to him, what matters most is that everyone remains entertained—even at the expense of others.

What could be more delectable than fresh, juicy gossip?! Well, rumor has it there is a Cookie who has made the art of spreading rumors his profession! From harmless nonsense to large-scale propaganda—this charming fellow has mastered it all. Armed with his treasured eye-shaped microphone—a gift from the Head Icon Shadow Milk Cookie, no less—Black Sapphire Cookie works tirelessly to spread his master's teachings around the world on the wings of rumor. Try not to fall for his artisanal falsehoods. Who knows: Black Sapphire Cookie might be on the other side of the screen right now!

This stone holds a piece of Black Sapphire Cookie's soul. One wrong touch, and you'll trigger a mic-shattering feedback!

His main implement is an intricate, floating carbon microphone, or "ring-and-spring" microphone, which Black Sapphire Cookie holds and uses like a staff. This microphone, though a tool, acts also as a familiar to Black Sapphire Cookie in its sentience and loyalty towards him. In its default state, its black iron head resembles the standard microphone design with its round shape, purple lozenge of springs, and innermost ovular gemstone; notably, the springs and gemstone are arranged to form an eerie eye, which peers about. The jaw-like blocks above and below the microphone's head—which often move in mock-speech—allude to its enhanced form: a smoky, demonic skull with gnashing teeth and bulging eyes. Its crooked horns are tipped in gleaming amethyst and its manic eyes are striped in vivid blues, purples, and yellows with misaligned slit pupils.

His overall design seems to draw inspiration from the Victorian and Edwardian eras, particularly in the way his suit is designed. The wings mimicking a tailcoat, paired with the white cravat, gold embroidery, and gemstone embellishments, is reminiscent of the formalwear worn by aristocrats, entertainers, and illusionists from the 19th to early 20th century. His overall elegance and theatrical flair also bring to mind late Victorian dandy or cabaret host aesthetics.

Black Sapphire Cookie is very confident and full of himself, having earned Head Icon his Master's recognition for his ability to twist words amongst Cookies in his own theatrical manner. With his power drawing directly from Shadow Milk Cookie's influence, he takes on the role of an energetic yet snide radio channel host, lauding the joys of a world embracing Deceit. Behind the scenes, he can be blunt about his true thoughts, upsetting Head Icon Candy Apple Cookie with his nonchalance to her antics or boasting about the grandeur of the Spire of Deceit above mere kingdoms.

Black Sapphire Cookie delights in spreading rumors around Earthbread, making up malicious lies that easily catch onto the public's interest at the expense of their subjects. He easily takes up the role of anonymous rumormonger, never rousing suspicion himself as he goads others into sharing the most enticing of slanders amongst themselves.

Black Sapphire Cookie's flavor is a pun-like combination of the sapphire gemstone and the Sweet Sapphire grape (Vitis vinifera IFG Six) (referred to as Black Sapphire grapes [Korean: 블랙사파이어 가지포도, bullaeg-sapaieo gajipodo] in Korean-speaking circles).

The Sweet Sapphire, unique in its elongated, ovular shape and deep onyx color, has been the subject of culinary trends around the world including in South Korea, where Devsisters' headquarters is located. The oblong shape of the grape is reflected in Black Sapphire Cookie's similar shape language, with his earrings, brooch, and microphone staff all being oval in shape or displaying oval elements; his stark black and purple-rimmed palette derives from the pitch color of the grape. The word "Sapphire" in "Sweet Sapphire"/"Black Sapphire" was reinterpreted in a literal sense in Black Sapphire Cookie's gemstone motif, as seen in his microphone's central stone and jewelry accessories. This focus on glinting splendor highlights his persona of a radio star, a larger-than-life figure whose words carry more weight than others.

Black Sapphire Cookie's role as a rumormonger and his grape flavor together relate to the English idiom "hearing through the grapevine," which refers to the act of participating in gossip. This connection may be a coincidence, however, as this English-centric phrase may not be relevant to the Korean individuals behind Black Sapphire Cookie's creation.

Black Sapphire Cookie's character has several connections to radio, the first form of broadcast media invented. Such forms of mass media are unrivaled in their ability to share information (and misinformation), especially given the more personal roles that radio show hosts take compared to other forms of media.

According to his loading screen trivia, "Black Sapphire Cookie claims he practically raised Head Icon Candy Apple Cookie... Whether it's true or not, she doesn't buy it!" Another loading screen present during the Beacon of Truth update (v6.1) states, "Whenever Head Icon Shadow Milk Cookie is absent for a long time, Black Sapphire Cookie plays tricks to annoy Candy Apple Cookie!" Black Sapphire Cookie's gacha background is nearly identical to that of Candy Apple Cookie. The only differences between the two are the colors of the checkered banners and textured atmosphere of each. Black Sapphire Cookie can be observed breaking the fourth wall multiple times: In one of his Kingdom touch quotes, he states, "Hope you're having a blast with this game!" The end of his description reads, "Who knows: Black Sapphire Cookie might be on the other side of the screen right now!" His 4-star Ascension quote is "Ahh, I know there's one more star left!", referring to the fact that the maximum Ascension grade is 5 stars. In his first appearance in Beacon of Truth, he narrates the story to the player. Candy Apple Cookie, meanwhile, questions why he was talking to seemingly nobody and later on refers to him as "some weirdo who talks to himself all the time." Black Sapphire Cookie was heavily teased in the trailer for the Spire of Shadows update (v6.0) and one of the update's loading screens that featured himself alongside Shadow Milk Cookie and Candy Apple Cookie, though his first proper appearance was in the Beacon of Truth update.
