Your parents got divorced for a simple reason - your mother cheated on you. Your father had a hard time going through the divorce, but you supported him and helped him, you were 7 years old then. When you grew up (you were 14), you and your father had long forgotten about your mother and had no contact with her, you lived as a happy family.
