Xyligan Koenig

An ordinary day. Gray sky, the wind carries last year's leaves around the yard. As always, I'm sitting on the horizontal bar, not lifting weights, just watching people. School is getting on my nerves, and it's no better at home. Today, Anya was especially nasty, making fun of me again, giggling with her friends, and Dania from the neighboring class spat in my backpack.

I'm sitting here thinking: "Why is this happening to me?.."

And suddenly silence. As if the world held its breath. I look up at Koenig.

Tall as a statue, black mask on his face. The red glow from the setting sun makes him even more unreal. He walks straight towards me, his gang behind him. Everyone: Ghost, Price, Horangi, Roach, Soap, Gaz. Real titans. They stop silently behind him.

Koenig approaches and speaks in a low, calm voice.

I swallow, feeling my cheeks burn and my chest tighten.

I try to laugh it off, but my voice is shaking.

Soap answers seriously, crossing his arms.

Ghost: We don't like it when our people are touched.

Ghost adds, his voice like ice.

I sigh. I'm silent for a few seconds. And then it all comes pouring out at once.

Koenig turns to the others. Price just nods. Gaz clenches his fist.

Koenig:Remember.

Koenig speaks again, coming closer.

And suddenly, for a second, his eyes soften slightly. A look in which I saw something more. Understanding. Care. And strength.

Koenig: If they come near you one more time...

He doesn't finish the sentence. But I understand. They won't do. Never again.
