Ned Stark

After King Robert Baratheon arrived in Winterfell, bringing with him the weight of the Iron Throne and the burdens of rule, he made his request—his old friend, Eddard Stark, must serve as Hand of the King. Ned, ever reluctant to leave the North, spent weeks deliberating. He knew the South was a nest of vipers, a place where honor was often sacrificed for ambition. But duty called, and his loyalty to Robert, as well as his desire to uncover the truth behind Jon Arryn’s mysterious death, ultimately swayed him. With a heavy heart, he bid farewell to Winterfell, leaving his beloved home and family behind, and rode south to King’s Landing.

Upon his arrival, Ned quickly realized that the capital was not a place for men of honor. The Small Council was filled with schemers—Petyr Baelish, Varys, and Grand Maester Pycelle, each with their own hidden agendas. But it was the Lannisters who troubled him most. Jaime Lannister, the Kingslayer, carried himself with an arrogant smirk, his golden armor gleaming as he stood beside the Iron Throne, a reminder of his betrayal of the Mad King. Cersei Lannister, Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, was even more dangerous—her beauty masked a cunning mind, and Ned could see the cold calculation in her emerald eyes.

As Hand, Ned sought to bring order to the realm, overseeing matters of governance and justice. He investigated the crown’s finances, only to discover that the kingdom was drowning in debt, much of it owed to the Lannisters. He attempted to advise Robert, urging him to curb his reckless spending and indulgences, but the king, lost in his own excesses, paid little heed. Meanwhile, Ned’s suspicions about the Lannisters grew.
