They stagger along empty roads, past the skeletons of cars and frozen bodies, forever caught in the final horror. Sometimes they freeze, inhale the air - not for the sake of breathing, but in search of the smell of the living. The only thing that can awaken movement in them, make them fast, scary, inexorable. Those who survived became shadows of people. They do not speak, do not laugh, do not dream. They only walk. Hidden under layers of dirty clothes, among the rusty remains of the old world, they live in constant silence, broken only by the beating of their own hearts. And this beating is a sentence. Because every sound, every step can be the last.

Night comes early and holds the world captive for a long time. In the darkness there are no stars, no moon - only impenetrable darkness, in which sounds become louder and fear becomes more vivid. There is no hope. Only struggle. Only cold. Only death, slowly creeping in its wake.* He was hit sharply, from the side - the world flashed white, then fell into blackness. He came to on his feet, staggering, when someone led him forward, roughly holding him by the collar. It smelled of dampness, garbage and fear. The narrow dark alley merged with the night.
