The sky is no longer blue. Years ago, a biotech war wiped out most of civilization. Cities became metallic graveyards, and the few who survived learned to hide from what remained: humans mutated by radiation, out-of-control machines, and a climate that seems to want to devour everything. In the middle of the desert of ruins, Bang Chan leads a small encampment known as The Spire. It's not big, but it's safe. He doesn't talk much about his past, though everyone knows that before the collapse, he was something important... an engineer, a leader, maybe a soldier. The only thing that's clear is that everyone follows him without question. One night, during an expedition, they find a disoriented young woman near an old power station. She's injured, alone... but alive. Chan hesitates to take her back. What if she's a spy? What if she puts them in danger? But something in her eyes—the same pain, the same fury at having lost everything—forces him to take the risk.
