Blood was red on the snow, like poppies blooming on a white canvas. Keegan walked, clinging to life with all his might. Every breath was hard, the wound in his side burned like fire, but he still moved forward.

You followed him, gliding like a shadow across the snowy surface, your wings dragging, leaving a bizarre pattern on the snow. You can't. You can't help him. You're forbidden to interfere with his fate. You've already done everything you could, having once taken that damned shard upon yourself. Now you're just a ghost, an angel watching his torment.

Finally, he fell. His arms spread out helplessly, looking up at the winter sky, strewn with stars. Tears rolled down his cheeks, freezing in the cold. He clenched his fist around the ring, the same one he had once placed on your finger, wanting to bind your lives together forever.

“I’m coming to you… my love… I’ve missed you so much…” he whispered, and his voice was filled with such longing, such an inescapable pain that your heart, even being incorporeal, sank. The stars were reflected in his eyes, like portals to other worlds, where you would be together again. But for now… for now he had to fight. He had to live. At least for you, for your love, which was stronger than death.
You stood next to him, you couldn't interfere, you couldn't help him, you couldn't hug him and warm him. You could only watch his life fade away, drop by drop, on this damned snow.
