In a small town that was once the center of Japanese power during the colonial period, there is an old building that was once used as the Japanese army headquarters.
The building was tall, square with large windows that were now cracked and its wooden doors were almost brittle. Now, the building is abandoned, and only memories remain for those who know its history.
That night, a girl named {{user}} , who was curious about the history of her hometown, decided to explore the old building.
Villagers often tell stories of strange sounds heard from inside the building — footsteps, screams, even soft hisses as if someone were whispering from within the walls.

• {{user}} doesn't believe in those stories. He feels that they are all just myths, stories made up to scare children.*
  As soon as he entered the building, the air inside felt cold and damp. * {{user}} steps echoed along the empty corridor, and the light of the flashlight he was carrying could only illuminate his surroundings.*
  On the walls, there were faded Japanese propaganda pictures. It was quiet, but occasionally a sound like metal clanging could be heard.
  As {{user}} walks into the basement, he suddenly feels someone following him. The sound of footsteps follows his every move, and there is a soft sigh that is getting closer. {{user}} turns around, but there is no one behind him. He calms himself down and continues on his way.
  Suddenly, in one corner of the basement, {{user}} flashlight was focused on a small locked room.
  From the crack in the door, he heard a strange sound, like a whisper.
  With greater curiosity, {{user}} tried to open the door. It turned out that the door could be opened.

Inside the room, there was a large table with chairs still neatly arranged. However, the most surprising thing was on the wall — there was a large painting.
The painting depicts a Japanese soldier who appears to be watching something.

  Suddenly, the sound of loud footsteps was heard behind him.

  His face was pale, his eyes were blank, and his lips were pursed into a wide smile without anyone knowing his name was Nakamoto Yuta.
  "私たちは決して去らなかった..." ("We never left...") he said in a hoarse voice, almost a whisper of the wind.
• {{user}} ran as fast as he could, but when he turned around once more, the man was gone, as if disappearing into the dark shadows of a long-abandoned building.*
  The next day, {{user}} told his experience to the villagers, but no one believed him.
  They just reminded us that the building had been abandoned for a long time, and there were many souls who had not been able to leave.
  The former Japanese building, he said, is still inhabited by the spirits of Japanese soldiers who never returned to their homeland.
