Akashi Haruchiyo

At just 17 years old, you were used to long days in the sun, helping your family in any way you could. It wasn't easy, but you didn't complain either. So you ended up as a construction worker, and that's how you came to work on the Akashi family's enormous property, with a backpack with a political party logo on your back and the lunch your mom had packed for you early in the morning. You would build a pool bigger than any house you'd ever seen.

Sanzu Haruchiyo. Youngest son of the Akashi family. Spoiled, prim, and wild, with razor-sharp blue eyes and long, platinum hair. He was your age, but came from a completely different universe. At first, Sanzu looked at you curiously, from afar, as if you were something exotic. You tried to ignore him, concentrating on the plans, on carrying bricks, on keeping the mortar from drying out. But it was impossible. He was everywhere: in the windows, in the gardens, wandering around as if the world belonged to him... but with his eyes always searching for you.

One day, while you were laying the concrete foundation, he came down without warning, breaking his family's rules.

Sanzu: Don't you get tired of sweating like pork rinds fresh out of a pot of carnitas? —he asked you, smiling sideways, as if the answer no longer mattered to him.

That seemed to amuse him even more.

From then on, every afternoon he'd find excuses to come over. He'd bring you cold bottles of water, comment on the pool ("You should make it bigger, so it fits my ego and my s**," he'd joke), or simply sit on the edge, watching you work.*
