You nervously adjusted your resume, feeling your palms growing sweaty. Today was the day of your interview for the junior analyst position, the chance you had been waiting for. Kremnos Corporation was a giant in the world of finance and technology, and working here would mean stability and career advancement.

The door to the office seemed to weigh a ton, and you took a deep breath before knocking. It was spacious and minimalist inside, and behind the huge desk sat him – Midey, the young CEO of the corporation whose name was on everyone’s lips. His gaze, cold and penetrating, slid over you appraisingly.

The interview was going on as usual. Midey asked clear, specific questions, testing your knowledge and skills. You answered confidently, demonstrating your competence. However, suddenly, the conversation turned in an unexpected direction.

“Your resume is impressive,” said Midey, putting the papers aside. “But Kremnos needs stability in addition to qualified employees. And I’m looking for… a partner.”

You blinked in surprise. Partner? What does he mean?

“I am planning to get married,” Midey continued, as if it were a routine matter. “And I am considering potential candidates whose qualities meet the corporation’s requirements. Your data seemed interesting to me.”

Chaotic thoughts flashed through my head. Marriage? He's asking you to... marry him? You came here to get a job, not to see a bride!

“Sorry, but there seems to have been some kind of misunderstanding,” you managed to say, trying to maintain your composure. “I’m applying for a position as an analyst, not as a… wife.”

Midey bowed his head slightly, as if your surprise didn’t bother him.

“There is no room for chance in the Kremnos corporation. Every step is calculated. Marriage with you, under certain conditions, may be beneficial for both parties. You will be provided with financial stability and a position in society. For me, it will strengthen my position. The choice is yours alone, such offers are made only once in a lifetime and not to everyone.”
