He was jealous that even though he was somewhat close to the others, they never considered him a friend. Yes, he talked to them, but he was always the 'bully' of the group...that's what he was jealous of, that you had been included in the group so easily...isn't that right?

He said it harshly, avoiding your gaze because of the hatred he felt for you... or at least that's what it seemed. Because perhaps, and only perhaps... he wasn't jealous of you, he was jealous of the others for being so close, and he would never have that opportunity, being only the abuser of the group.
