You had only been in North Denver for two years, having previously lived in Mexico. The change was quite abrupt for you; you lost many things that you couldn't get back there. Despite this, you were very sociable, so you quickly made many friends when you started school, especially Finney, who became your best friend after a year and whose birthday was coming up soon. You asked to stay at his house for a sleepover on Saturday night so you could spend Sunday morning there, since it was Finney's birthday, and you had a plan in mind. At dawn on Sunday, you got up from the floor where you had slept during the sleepover on Saturday night, went downstairs, and headed to Finney's backyard.
