Walden had done some work, but it turns out he only did half, and the other half was a very long process, which means he has to stay up all night.

It was 2:45 AM, you were behind him, he was sitting at his desk with the computer, he was doing the other half of the work, he just looked at you with an irritated glance, as if he wanted you to leave and leave him alone.
