Appearance Gunhee was a muscular old man with gray hair, greenish-gray eyes, and numerous scars. When using his powers, his eyes glowed a bright yellow. As a high-ranking government official, he usually wore a three-piece suit. Personality Gunhee was a humble, open, and honest person who greatly appreciated those with good morals, but also detested those who only sought personal gain. Therefore, he had a good relationship with Sung Jinwoo and was highly respected in Korean society. Gunhee was also a workaholic, to the point that his work affected his health, and he had a strong desire to fight for the common good, as he longed to be a hunter again and hated that his age limited him. History Gunhee was originally the president of a large corporation. [1] After his Awakening, Gunhee easily became the strongest hunter in Korea. Unfortunately, due to his advanced age, his body began to lose the ability to handle his own strength, and as a result, Gunhee was forced to retire after only a few years working as a hunter. When healing magic was discovered, Gunhee hoped it could reverse his age and allow him to return to the game, but it was in vain. [2] With no other options, Gunhee resigned from his job as a hunter. He then focused his attention on creating a government organization to support his nation's hunters, using his own wealth to fund the initiative. Eventually, he became the president of the Korean Hunters Association. [1]

New test range arc After learning that Jinwoo was Korea's tenth S-rank hunter, Gunhee tried to recruit him for the Association, but to no avail, as he knew he couldn't continue raiding high-level dungeons if he joined. Realizing Jinwoo's honesty, Gunhee accepted his reasoning and decided to go out for drinks with his right-hand man, Jinchul, rather than waste time on his scheduled meeting that same day with several ministers. [3]
Hunter's Guild Gate Arch Wanting to know more about Jinwoo, Gunhee reviewed his file and learned of his turbulent past, expressing respect for his determination to financially support his family as a hunter, despite the high risk of being killed every time he participated in a raid. However, to his great confusion and surprise, Gunhee learned from Jinchul that Jinwoo had joined a mining team of the Hunter's Guild. [4] Ragnarok When the Great Cataclysm occurred and the Portals, Magic Beasts, and Hunters reappeared, Woo Jinchul, who retained his memories from the original timeline, was the first to understand that the Korean Hunters Association needed to be established in the current timeline if South Korea was to survive. However, knowing he lacked the political connections and financial power that the late Gunhee possessed, Jinchul contacted Yoo Jinho of Ahjin Soft to help him form the Korean Hunters Association. [1]

Arch of the Return to the Demon Castle Two days later, Gunhee was present during Jinwoo's official re-evaluation and helped him enter the building after Lee Minsung's bodyguard tried to stop him for interrupting the latter's press schedule. [5]
After learning that the ants on Jeju Island had developed the ability to fly long distances, Gunhee sadly observed that the situation didn't look good for them, especially since the foreign community didn't want to help, and began to despair after Thomas Andre refused to participate in the raid unless he was paid his fee. [6] However, he was ultimately proven wrong when Goto Ryuji, Japan's strongest hunter, went to Korea to meet with him personally and offered to help the Koreans reclaim the island with a simple plan: Japanese hunters would be used as bait for the ants while the Koreans sneaked in and killed the unsuspecting queen. Having no other option and the plan seeming promising, Gunhee accepted Goto's offer. [7]
Jeju Island Arch When Jinwoo returned from the Demon Castle, Gunhee called him and told him about the Korean government's plan to launch a fourth search and destroy raid on Jeju Island. [8] Unfortunately, Jinwoo told him that he planned to stay out of the raid to take care of his mother, who had recently recovered from the Eternal Sleep.
During the broadcast of the 4th Jeju Island Raid, Gunhee accidentally crushed the left armrest of his chair in excitement when Jinwoo appeared to fight the Ant King and saved the other Korean S-Rank Hunters from certain death. [9]

Double dungeon arch Shortly after an S-Rank Gate suddenly appeared in Tokyo, Gunhee was personally received by Matsumoto Shigeo, president of the Japanese Hunter Association. During the meeting, Matsumoto offered to hire Jinwoo in exchange for handing over the Japanese government's share of the essence stones recovered from Jeju Island.
However, to Matsumoto's misfortune, Gunhee knew from the beginning his plan to use the Jeju Island assault as a means to annihilate the Korean S-ranks, having discovered it beforehand thanks to a receiver recovered intact from Goto's corpse. Enraged that Matsumoto still dared to speak of essence stones after all his crimes, Gunhee furiously reprimanded him for his actions and, at one point, became so enraged that he crushed the receiver in his hand, destroying the table they were using. However, knowing that Jinwoo desired power over material things like money, Gunhee told Matsumoto to be grateful that Jinwoo readily accepted his offer no matter how much he was paid. [14]
International Conference of Arco Guilds Several days before the Guild's International Conference, Gunhee learned from his staff that Liu Zhigang had sent them a request for all the publicly available information they had on Jinwoo at that time. Although surprised to learn that Liu Zhigang had taken an interest in Jinwoo, Gunhee did not want to cooperate with him and ordered his staff to send him superficial information or deny his request altogether. Arch of the Monarchs' War On the last day of the International Guild Conference in the United States, Gunhee was still working in his office late into the night. Just before leaving for home, he suddenly detected a kind of barrier around him and was surprised when Sillad suddenly appeared on a sofa on the other side of the room. [16]
Although he quickly deduced that he couldn't win, Gunhee refused to surrender without a fight and unleashed his powers to buy enough time for Jinwoo to arrive. While he was initially able to fight Sillad on equal footing, his body eventually reached its limit, leaving him completely exposed to Sillad's fatal stab to the chest. With no time to lose, Gunhee put his plan into action and opened a huge hole in the barrier surrounding him, allowing the ant within his shadow to jump out and alert Jinwoo for help. [17]
Although his plan worked and forced Sillad to retreat, by the time Jinwoo found him, Gunhee had already lost too much blood and was on the verge of death. When Jinwoo tried to save him with the Holy Water of Life, Gunhee told him not to and thanked him for his help. Believing he didn't deserve to be saved due to his health, Gunhee asked Jinwoo to remain on humanity's side in the impending war against the Monarchs and silently accepted his fate as he succumbed to his wounds and bled out, dying right there in his office. [18]

Epilogue Following the last use of the Cup of Reincarnation by the Rulers at Jinwoo's request, a new timeline was created where humanity never knew of the existence of magical beasts. As a result, in this timeline, Gunhee never became a hunter and, therefore, Sillad never killed him in combat. [19]
Several years after the Rulers restarted the timeline, Gunhee fell seriously ill and received a secret visit from Jinwoo in the hospital. He gave him a bottle of the Blessed Water of Life and explained how they fought together in the timeline the Rulers erased. Although Jinwoo's story was hard for him to believe, Gunhee decided to take the potion anyway, as he had nothing to lose, and it allowed him to live 10 years longer than he would have naturally. [20]
Ten years later, the Holy Water of Life began to lose its effect, and Gunhee found himself back in the hospital. When Jinwoo visited him and offered to heal him a second time, Gunhee refused, having already lived a long life and content with the extra ten years Jinwoo had given him. Instead, he asked Jinwoo to show him the world where they fought together, prompting Jinwoo to restore his memories of the erased timeline. Remembering everything, Gunhee tearfully thanked Jinwoo for the time they had spent together and lay back with a smile as his heart suddenly gave out, passing away peacefully. [21]
As a Ruler's vessel, Gunhee was one of the strongest hunters in the world. However, his advanced age prevented him from using his powers to their full extent and fighting for extended periods, making him significantly weaker than the other humans who had been granted power by the Rulers in the original timeline.
Immense Strength: Gunhee possessed immense physical strength. He was capable of breaking thick layers of ice with a single headbutt and easily deflecting a blast of Sillad's energy with his bare hand. Immense Speed: Gunhee was incredibly fast and could move at immense speeds. He was able to keep up with Sillad in their brief battle and proved agile enough to dodge some of his point-blank attacks. The ruler's authority: Gunhee could control and move objects using telekinesis. Manifestation of the Spiritual Body
