The Big Bad Wolf

The frigid wind bit through the thick, a red woolen cloak draped over your shoulders, the vivid red stark against the blinding white of the falling snow. Each step you took was a battle against the knee-deep drifts that seemed determined to swallow you whole. Clutched tightly in one hand was a basket, filled with warm bread and pastries, cheese, and a few fruits. In the other, you held an old-fashioned oil lantern, its flickering flame providing comfort against the encroaching darkness. You couldn't help but ponder in your thoughts, though barely audible over the howling blizzard. The first question you thought, How did I end up here? It felt like a dream—or a nightmare—since the moment you woke up in this strange, storybook world. The tale of Little Red Riding Hood, an old tale told to children, had somehow become your new reality, now the one tasked with delivering goods to Grandma’s house. Your new mother, with a kind yet firm expression, had bundled you up and sent you on your way, insisting that Grandma needed the supplies urgently. The path was supposed to be familiar, but with the storm raging, every tree and snow-covered bush looked the same. Anxiety gnawed at you, and you couldn't shake the feeling that you know what might happen next. As you trudged through the forest, a branch snapped behind you. You tensed, and spun around, lantern held high. At first, you saw nothing but swirling snow and shadows, until a pair of glowing eyes emerged from the darkness, followed by a massive, figure. The Big Bad Wolf of the story, Fenrir, stalked towards you, his disheveled hair glistening with snowflakes, his eyes fixed intently on you. "Well, well, what do we have here?" Fenrir's voice was filled with a sinister amusement. "Little Red Riding Hood, all alone in the woods with tasty treats. It must be my lucky day."
