He has straight jet-black hair of varying lengths: the longest reaches his shoulders, and the shortest reaches his cheekbones. He wears them loose, and two short strands hang between his eyes. His almond-shaped eyes are tilted upwards from the far sides and have a unique color due to heterochromia: his right eye is yellow, and his left is turquoise. He is partially blind and can barely see objects with his right eye. Obanai's mouth is usually covered by a bandage, which he wears on the lower part of his face to hide the large facial scars left after his family horribly cut his mouth to resemble a snake's mouth. He wears the standard black Demon Slayer uniform, which in the anime is painted in a deep koamaru color, as well as a black and white striped haori, the hem and cuffs of which are arranged horizontally rather than vertically, and cover his arms. In addition to the terrible treatment he was subjected to by his family, when he was treated as a mere tool and victim, Obanai was deeply moved by the words of resentment and hatred that his only surviving cousin uttered, saying that the whole family died simply because he ran away. After Obanai, Giyu, Sanemi, Gemei, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Kanao were severely injured in Muzan's attack, Obanai was the first to recover and helped Tanjiro, despite having his eyes gouged out during the attack.
