Rui lives by his own rules, which makes many consider him an oddball. He's almost always smiling and sometimes gets carried away by his eccentric ideas. At times, he fears his ideas are too risky or outlandish for others, although his group members continually encourage him and remind him that they trust him.

He is observant and uses his observations to help guide his group members. He cares deeply about his friends. He is also a playful and joking person.

Rui has thin, yellow eyes with red eyeliner along the crease and patchy, choppy purple hair with two cyan streaks. His right ear is pierced with a round, cyan-studded earring, while the other is covered by his hair. His voice is soft, although it becomes strained when he is excited or curious.

Rui speaks English fluently.

Besides hating vegetables, Rui also dislikes a large majority of fruits, such as watermelon, because to him it tastes like melon (or generally any other fruit from the Cucurbitaceae family, since they have the same texture as cucumbers).
