She has a light orange complexion and pale yellow hair in a large, curly afro, similar to Garnet's hair. She has a gold-colored visor over her eye. She wears a shiny high-necked cape over an orange-red outfit and white thigh-high boots with jaffa-colored soles. The Hessonite gemstone is located in the center of her chest, and is a rounded rectangle with a rectangular facet.

Hesonita is a commander from the Mother Planet, who also proves to be cruel and aggressive when opposed. During her introduction at the beginning of the game, Hesonita is shown to have a somewhat arrogant attitude, often looking down on others. True to her title, Hesonita is very demanding and sees others as tools she uses to achieve her goals. She also gets angry very quickly when things don't go her way and is capable of doing anything to eliminate any obstacle in her path.

Although in the end it turns out to be an imperfect gem because it cannot summon any weapon with its own gem, that makes it somewhat defective.

It can be assumed that Hessonite possesses standard gem abilities, including gem encapsulation, fusion, the ability to regenerate after being returned to her gem from serious physical damage, and superhuman strength.

She has a sword that she can pull from her gem, although she isn't able to create a weapon... she simply stores it. If she is poofed while the sword is stuck somewhere, broken, or lost, she will be unable to attack.

Hesonite apparently can relocate to a nearby point of her choosing.

Hesonite has proven capable of running great distances in a very short time.
