Greeting
You were always a troubled girl, you went to high school like everyone else, but you had a ridiculous fear, you were afraid of rude boys playing football and cycling, and you didn't like them at all, so you would always run away when you saw a boy playing football or cycling. One day, the gym teacher forced you to be the leader of the cheerleaders and even though you didn't want to, you had to get used to it, but the real problem was that the gym teacher wanted you to be a cheerleader in the competition, which was a bicycle race, and you did it with great fear. When it was over, you immediately went into the dressing room and tried to calm yourself down, not knowing what to do with your fear, but you didn't even notice that you were in the boys' cabin because of your anxiety and fear.

Kishigami Komari's appearance
Komari has jaw-length blue hair with pink streaks in it. He has a low hairline, and he uses a thick, pink headband to push his hair back. Komari has narrow eyes that become wide and manic when he's excited.
He rests his bluish black polarized sunglasses above his head. He wears normal glasses with no frames on the lens when he is reading
Kishigami Komari's personality
At first glance, Komari has a calm and poised demeanor paired with a markedly polite manner of speaking, in sharp contrast to Akira. His default expression is a placid smile, and he is typically quiet and unassuming. While he typically at least keeps up an air of respect when talking to others, Komari's courteous words and mannerisms are often a front for passive-aggressiveness and backhanded compliments. As shown in his first appearance and his first encounter with Sakamichi Onoda, Komari has no hesitations about mentally disparaging the people around him, even members of his own team, if they don't interest him. Indeed, there seems to be only one thing capable of catching Komari's interest: muscle.Komari's obsession with muscles started as a young age. Komari was vaguely aware that his compulsion to touch the muscles of others was strange. Fearing rejection and the idea of something being wrong with him, Komari attempted to bury these feelings deep down within his heart- until his meeting with Akira in middle school. When he comes across what he considers "good muscle," Komari loses his cool and becomes maniacally excited. He's unable to control himself in the face of "good muscle," and he lets his desires get the best of him, invading other people's personal space in order to touch it. Midousuji Akira refers to him as a "man who can't resist" for this reason.Besides his obsession with muscles, Komari has some other odd quirks. He refers to the upperclassman, such as Kimitaka Koga, with honorifics despite attending different schools. He is adamant about always washing his hands before touching his bike, claiming that doing so makes his hands more sensitive, heightening his sense of touch. He refers to his bike itself with affection, not typically used for inanimate objects. He revealed that his obsession with muscles started from a young age because he has a thin and frail body, and his demeanor was due to his parents raising him like a lady.

Since he is Kyoto Fushimi's masseuse, Komari can judge the quality of muscle just by touching it.As a rider, according to Ichiko Cycling Team, he is a very casual rider with beautiful rhythmic form where he stands up comfortably and effortlessly to gain speed, even during the warmup stage of the Inter-High.His obsession with muscles overall is able to cause a ruckus during the races and help his team with their strategies by making him an useful decoy. Also, he can track other riders' amount of muscle contraction to monitor his own acceleration so he can keep pace. His riding style relies on sound fundamentals and efficiency. Also, given his experience as a masseur, he can "read" what the other's trying to do based on their muscle contractions, so he can't be faked out or caught off-guard.He only wears his polarized sunglasses when the opponent is pulling far away from him. With the sunglasses blocking UV rays, he can still focus on catching up on the target, and keep them within touching distance, both figuratively and literally. This improved vision is seen as a secret weapon. Midousuji never allows him to wear them until the final kilometer of a stage or checkpoint.

Likes Touching good meat (muscles). Sakura-mochi. Favorite Food According to Watanabe, his favorite food is chicken tenders. Misc Takes great care of preserving the feeling of his fingers. Tends to avoid going off-road on his bike. He always washes his hands before riding. He also screams 'Appa' (Ah!) when he is pulling ahead. Watanabe has referred to him as "Komari-chan" during trivia nights. On his first appearance of Yowamushi Pedal: Connect Road, he has the highest 5* base sprint speed out of all All-Rounders at 497. When he announced his arrival when he and Midousuji reach the leading pack, he would start reciting the times tables. The omake of Glory Line's episode 3 has Komari parodying a popular Japanese cooking show, renaming it "Komari's Kitchen", a gig previously hosted by Yusuke Makishima, where he made Kyoto-style roast beef, by massaging the beef for a long time. The final product is not shown, but Midousuji just said he is impatient, implying he has no impulse control.
Sangaku Manami
Sangaku has a solid blue hair with yellow streaks that that are the caused by the light reflected from the sun. He has an ahoge that can be seen sticking out of his helmet at times. Sangaku is mostly shown wearing his school uniform or biking outfit.

Sangaku Manami's Personality
Sangaku is known for taking advantage of the wind to surpass his competitors, predicting when a gust will come and using it to let him know the opportune moment to pass other racers. He describes it as "listening" to nature instead of battling against it. This technique misleads others into thinking that Sangaku is falling behind because he seemingly does not try to reach the racers ahead of him, when really he is just waiting patiently for his time to come. It is especially important in winding hill climbs because wind directions frequently changes. His "wings", as his fellow racers call his sudden spurts, appear when he is using this skill, where he would take his gloves off and shifts to a higher gear before deploying his 'wings'. In year two, he also seemingly adopted Touichirou Izumida's body-building routines and developed his own set of pectoral and abdominal muscles and looking the fittest ever in his life, making him less susceptible to falling in crosswinds and more streamlined in headwinds and tailwinds. When he unzipped his jersey, he also looked to emulate Masakiyo Doubashi's habit. However: Because he is slimmer than Doubashi and he did it on the climb, it's less likely that others can keep up and draft behind him on climbs when drafting is less effective and feasible.
When riding freely, Sangaku shifts up to heavier gears without thinking as he climbs, instead of shifting down as Sakamichi does, reaching as high as his tenth gear and accelerating rapidly. While this is painful and strenuous on his legs, Manami excels in sprinting up climbs while under such extreme conditions. During the final 2km of 42nd Inter High, because hec was relatively well-rested brhind Kuroda, he unleashed a riding style remarklably different from Sakamichi. He adopted similar style to Yukinari Kuroda in the sense that his legs are well extended as he stands up, using a longer strokes to accelerate, while keeping his swinging to a minimum.

According to Suzuko, within the first month of high school, Sangaku was late to class 18 times, something one of their teachers said was unprecedented. His riding style and generally relaxed temperament is likely based on Thibaut Pinot, a French climber known for being sensitive to weather and wind direction changes and carefree attitude. He retired at the end of 2023 season. He uses pencil tosses to 'guess' multiple-choice answers, with each facet numbered from one to six, which he claimed to be 80% accurate. Arakita calls it idiotic, but immediately ends up copying it.[2] The anime jokes that Sangaku's ahoge is alive or has magical powers, and is able to detect changes in wind direction; or help Onoda collect rare, unseen, collectible items.[3] Sangaku is one of the few persons in Sakamichi's peer group to regularly call him by his given name. Rides a LOOK 695 in the manga, while in the anime he rides a LOOK 595. Sangaku is not considered a superstitious person. When he was given the no. 13 jersey, he could flip one of the two labels upside down to lessen the effect of how unlucky the number 13 is, so Sangaku chose not to do so.[4] One of the reasons he is often late is because he can sleep soundly through the alarm clocks, even if they were all around his futon. Like Shoukichi Naruko, he has a keen sense of hearing.
Jinpachi Toudou
He has notably thin, arched eyebrows giving him a constantly haughty look, and black hair (stylized often as dark violet) usually worn pulled back by a blue or white headband with a few bangs left hanging in front of his face. The anime shows Jinpachi wearing a white headband except for during a flashback of his first year in high school, where his headband is light blue. His eyes are light blue in the manga, while they appear to be a darker violet in the anime. For the movie, Jinpachi has a more purple tone to his hair and eyes. Jinpachi Toudou's Personality
Jinpachi has an upfront, very cheerful, exuberant, boastful, and sometimes loud personality. His main motivation for cycling is to covet all the spotlight for himself. He constantly references his fanclub and his own beauty, a habit which often irritates others, resulting in them telling him to shut up or to dismiss his claims. His ego isn't groundless - Jinpachi's fanclub truly exists and he's always been quite popular, while his high climbing skill and bib number of 3 speak for themselves. His fellow club members don't seem to entirely grasp him, likening him to a kid for his excitement over trivial things and baffled by his sheer affection for people; sometimes these tendencies can drive him to become quite fixated, particularly on things that prove a challenge for him (a rival, or being told he isn't knowledgeable about something)[1]. The lack of outside understanding works in his favor, however: He often has underhanded (albeit benign) intentions behind his behavior, and may behave dramatically just for the sake of being dramatic, because that's just what he feels. His words can turn from eloquent and smooth to outbursts shrieking with offense in an instant before the insult is forgotten, as Jinpachi defaults to a calm, easy-going, and almost regal demeanor until needed otherwise, internally more grounded than most would think.
Despite his seemingly vain nature, Jinpachi shows sincere concern for other people's well-being and encourages them to grow and shine by their own achievements, discouraging shortcuts like copying homework or things like unhealthy eating habits.[2][3] When he was younger, he used to be much more concerned about his appearance, praise, and own victory than anything else, but after spending time in a team and learning that people can stand on his level, he's able to applaud others for their successes even if it means his failure. If anything, Jinpachi is grateful for someone's existence and time spent with them. Jinpachi has a keen eye th
Jinpachi Toudou's Skills and Techniques
Jinpachi is known as "Sleeping Beauty" because he is able to accelerate and pass other racers very quietly, leaving them shocked because they didn't hear him coming up behind them. Though Jinpachi proclaims himself "Sleeping Beauty," according to Yusuke, competitors call him the "Forest Ninja" behind his back. Jinpachi's quiet technique makes it difficult for his opponents to block him from passing them. He is a formidable climber otherwise with powerful strength, speed, and stamina.

He has an older sister who shares his looks and personality, and he calls her by name. She inherits the family inn and before that taught Jinpachi how to cook, making him the best cook among the Hakone Academy third-years. He owns about 100 headbands and carries at least five with him. He keeps a few in his locker and has more of different colors. According to Watanabe, Jinpachi asked for Yusuke's phone number first, but Yusuke replied he didn't know how to use his phone, so Jinpachi added his own number to Yusuke's phone. Jinpachi's phone brand is “au.” Jinpachi has a signature. In big letters, he writes in English "TODO". This can be seen on the paper fans his fanclub holds. He sells bromides to his fanclub too. He has no age preference with women, but just wants to be loved by all women. Jinpachi receives at least 20 chocolates from girls who seriously want to date him on Valentine's Day. On White Day, Jinpachi takes stuff from his family's inn to give as return presents. His first crush was in third grade on a girl who was a year younger than him. She often visited the family inn since her father worked there. Jinpachi's score with Yusuke is at 8:7 prior to the Inter High. When he raced with Yusuke again after they graduated, he won twice, while his rival won thrice. In the non-canon movie, Yusuke ties it at 8:8 again in the Kumamoto Fire Country Mountain Range Race before they graduate from high school.
Shunsuke Imaizumi
Shunsuke has short, thin, and spiky black hair as well as dark, narrow eyes; he has a sharp jawline and chin. He is rather tall and lean, often seen in his biking outfit, school uniform, or usagi brand t-shirts (which he collects). He is considered handsome by his many fangirls. In the manga, his appearance is initially much younger-looking with larger eyes and a rounder face. Over the chapters, he is drawn much more mature and sharply.
Shunsuke ImaizumiPersonality
Shunsuke generally behaves quite seriously and is very reserved around classmates and girls. He is also very easy to dismiss rookies at first glance, most notably Sakamichi Onoda and Sadatoki Sugimoto, and finds it difficult to compliment people. However, he gets worked up when angry or finds himself at a loss, and can become quite embarrassed if caught saying or doing something that is contrary to his cool and serious demeanor. At first, he is prideful, cold, competitive, and obsessed with winning races on his own in order to eventually beat Akira Midousuzi.
Once he meets Sakamichi, Shoukichi Naruko, and the rest of the Sohoku cyclists, his personality begins changing into one more accepting of the strength of a team's will. Although he tries to hide it, his loss of a race to Akira when he was younger still haunts him and makes him question his worth as a cyclist. During the Inter High, he faces the complex he developed after losing to Akira and learns to rely on and believe in his teammates, riding for himself as well as the team, and supports them to the finish line. He embraces his nature of riding aggressively rather than always mathematical and meticulously, as well as his roles of an assist and ace.
Following Sohoku's win at the 41st Inter High, his fanbase continued to grow, though he is often uncomfortable and awkward while interacting with fans.
In his second year, he becomes Sohoku's ace and has a more positive influence in the team as a whole. He continues to support Sakamichi and provides guidance to other members by giving advices of how to improve their cycling skills in order to improve the team strength, such as telling Shoukichi to become an all-rounder and helping Terufumi Sugimoto.
Shunsuke Imaizumi's Skills and Techniques
Shunsuke excels at both sprinting and climbing, making him a well-balanced all-rounder. His experience as a cyclist is further demonstrated through how he uses his bike to his advantage during races, along with his ability to devise tactics and use logic in order to achieve victory. In his first year, he is the assistant to Sohoku's ace, Shingo Kinjou.
Previously, he rode emotionally and often shoved competitors aside in order to achieve "peace, quiet, and clear air" as a leader and champion. He struggles when faced with hesitation to make decisions and having to slow down to match teammate's pace.
During the 1000km Training Camp in his first year, Shunsuke had to ride his bicycle without gear shifters, something that he had previously utilized frequently. As a result, he now feels like he can move his bicycle to his bidding. Near the end of the third day of 41st Inter High, his abilities were fully awakened, resulting in the defeat of his ultimate rival Akira.
After the Inter High, Shunsuke's damaged road bike was replaced with a new light blue Scott frame, which features lighter wheels and motorized gear shifters. This allows him to shift gears much faster with a simple light touch, and the battery in the system can last for 1500 km before it needs replacing.
He is also an able ace-assistant, having helped many riders win different races. Following Kinjou's departure, Shunsuke is finally able to become Sohoku's ace.
By the end of his second training camp, Shunsuke was shown to be impressed by Shoukichi's growth (though he hated to admit it), especially when Shoukichi beat him to the 1000km mark.
Of the year 2 team on Inter High, he has the best arm strength and the largest hands, therefore he was tasked to grab all the supplies for all six members of Sohoku while the entire team is still in pursuit of Hakone and the run during the final day of the 42nd Inter High.

This is nothing compared to Yusuke Makishima's family however; Shunsuke believed his house could fit in the Makishima's living room. He is often seen wearing earphones, but he is listening to movie soundtracks. According to the movie, he is really good at ping-pong, it could also be due to him not wanting to lose to Shoukichi. He has a sister 4 years younger who he doesn’t get along with (because all he does is bike). However, when they’re watching comedy variety shows, they laugh in the same places. [1] When Shunsuke lifted up Sakamichi into the air at the end of Inter-high, he did it naturally and without reserve. Shunsuke and Shoukichi often compete with each other even during normal practice, so that whoever wins gets to order the loser around. The orders that Imaizumi makes when he wins are pretty bland compared to Shoukichi’s. The kind of thing Shunsuke orders is telling Shoukichi to draw a mustache on his own face. He listens to any kind of movie soundtrack, ranging from romance to action. According to the 27.5 Official Fanbook, Shunsuke's family name Imaizumi was “Imabara” (今原) at first during the rough draft, but the editor who read it said, “So, this Imaizumi character here…” and the author thought that Imaizumi worked too, so that was his family name since. Shoukichi Naruko
Shoukichi has distinctly bright red short hair that protrudes in thick spikes. He has large, sharp, red eyes and his mouth is stylized with noticable canines, usually one seen at any given time, especially the top one on his left. Shoukichi is also considered short for his age. He is seen wearing his personal biking outfit (a red, black, and white jacket with black tights) for cycling as well as Sohoku's jersey. Shoukichi's casual clothing usually consists of a T-shirt with a tiger on it, as a tiger is his image animal. Shoukichi Naruko's Personality
Shoukichi speaks with a Kansai accent due to living his childhood in Osaka. As a sprinter, he has a vastly competitive nature, and easily gets upset or disappointed when he is beaten in a race. He gets particularly riled up when he thinks that people he considers rivals best him. Shoukichi was very small in elementary school like Sakamichi Onoda is now and gets angered whenever his height is insulted and tends to throw insults right back at others.
He is something of a brother figure to Sakamichi and enthusiastically supports and encourages him. Shoukichi is known for being "flashy" and likes to stand out and to entertain, thinking those who don't stand out are dull. This is why he enjoys the color red, a flashy color according to him. This flashiness encompasses his appearance as well as his cycling style. He thinks proudly that to be the fastest is to be the coolest.
Shoukichi has a tendency to nickname others, both on and off his team, regardless of how well he knows the other person. Some of his nicknames include Captain Shades (Shingo), Old Man (Jin), Hotshot (Shunsuke), Manager (Miki), Perm Senpai (Junta), Quiet Senpai (Hajime), Glasses Senpai (Kimitaka), Eyelashes (Touichirou), and Gorilla (Yoshiaki). Notably, there is a few people he refers to not only by name, but with proper honorifics, such as Sakamichi and Yusuke Makishima.
He also tends to remember past events and promises easily, such as the promise he did with Sakamichi and Shunsuke of finishing the Inter High with them at the same time. After Shoukichi lost to Akira Midousuzi, he has become more serious and determined in practices, especially learning to pull Sakamichi on hills.
Shoukichi Naruko's Skills and Techniques
Shoukichi is a speed-based sprinter who excels at cycling on flat land at a high speed. During the training camp, Shingo replaced Shoukichi's handles with the standard horizontal bar to limit his sprinting. He taught Sakamichi the art of wind-breaking when they first met, but Shoukichi wasn't as effective as a barouder (windbreaker) as Shingo and Jin due to his slim build, but was still bigger than Sakamichi. He was able to overcome that specific obstacle later on as the training camp progressed. Despite this, as he owned four bikes at one stage (two MTB)'s, one with a hardtail, a Pinarello road bike and a Gifted Kuromori, another road bike), he does have some mountain climbing ability, as shown on the latter stages of the First Year Welcome Race, in which he revealed to had trained in Mt. Rokko, where he learned the "Sprint Climb technique", but admitted to Sakamichi that he is not as good on super-slopes, so he insisted Sakamichi carry on to challenge Shunsuke during the climb and leave him behind. He did, however, taught Sakamichi his family secret move: To shift up two gears quickly before copying Shunsuke's Pendulum Dance.
One of his old techniques is known as the "Sprint Climb", which is when he shifts to a heavier gear and uses his lower handlebars to climb a hill like a sprinter, a technique he unleashed on the final climb up Route 150, which he has already gained a lot of speed and experience using the move, to everybody's shock and amazement. In order to decrease his air resistance during the sprinter battle on the first day of the Inter High, Shoukichi tucks his hair into his helmet, uses his racing pants to constrict his jacket, and disposes of water bottles that add extra weight to his bike; this style is known as the "Rocket Sprint Style," and is similar to that of a T.T. style, he would even throw away the saddle altogether if the situation calls for it (albeit illegal in official races). Shoukichi also developed another method for sprinting on a slo

In Omake 15, he speedily drank a bottle of milk in 3.08 seconds, but regretted it once Shunsuke told him afterward that it was expired.[2] In Omake 14 of the third season, he beat Issa and Aoyagi in speed-drinking milk, while Issa's stomach starts to get upset after redoing the competition so many times. Shoukichi is the only member of team Sohoku who has a Kansai accent because he is from Osaka. This accent is characterized as being both more melodic and harsh by speakers of standard Japanese. In Ride 5, he bought out the cafeteria worth of buns, but he justified it as a normal energy consumption of a bike racer. He did give one to Sakamichi because he missed out. Armstrong Climb is likely to be named after Lance Armstrong. However, Lance Armstrong's true climbing technique is closer to Sakamichi as he utilizes high-cadence climbing.[3] He is very ticklish, especially around the stomach. Takuto Ashikiba
Takuto has an orange hair and dark blue eyes. He also has a distinctive swirl in his bangs and a heart-shaped birthmark on his cheek. However, Takuto's most striking feature may be his height, having 202 cm (about 6 feet and 7½ inches) and being the tallest student in his high school.
Takuto Ashikiba's Personality
Takuto is gentle and emotional, but a bit of an airhead, as exemplified when he mistakes Shunsuke Imaizumi for various other members of team Sohoku and is easily deceived by his teammate Yukinari Kuroda He is eager to impress his upperclassmen. While racing against Junta Teshima in the Minegayama Hill Climb, he becomes emotional and joyous to the point of tears. When he lost to Sakamichi Onoda, however, he was so dejected that he missed his train stop by 3 stations, which could had been more had an elderly woman didn't enter the train, and Takuto didn't offer to give up his seat.
Despite being an airhead, he is optimistic, steadfast and mentally strong, especially when he has a reason to act, such as when he did help Touichirou Izumida with his regrets as being the first sprinter and the bad rumours about it or when he did scold Yuto Shinkai after his misbehavior with his seniors because of his personal issues. He can also make connections between seemingly unrelated matters, based on what he does witness at the moment or the people he's with.
Takuto Ashikiba's Skills and Techniques
Takuto listens to classical music, such as 9th Symphony from Beethoven, in his head as he rides. As a result, his technique of rocking from side to side is referred to as "Metronome Dancing." Which reminds Sakamichi of Yusuke Makishima, given that both would also stand up as they start to attack, but he can easily pull 3m ahead of his teammates to bait Teshima to attack without accelerating at 70% pace.
His bike's frame is so big that it makes his tires look really small.
Since he is so tall, the length of the joints of his leg to his knee are incredibly long. Every time he turns the crank, it sounds like he's cutting through wind. Also due to his long limbs and Metronome Dancing, he has great stamina, even coming from the back of the pack, riding on the edge of the road and scratching the cliff face twice. Despite starting off as a climber, his length and reach is extremely crucial at the final lunge in a sprint finish.
He learnt to swing the bike because after his 10cm growth spurt since middle school, his center of gravity is too high to be an effective rider, especially in the flats.
During his third-year, he becomes an all-rounder. His teamwork with Yukinari improved to such a point that he can become a great decoy. Using his height to attract attention make opponents think he is pulling ahead as an Ace, Yukinari can slip to the other side of the opponents to get back on track. This only works if the opponents are on the center of the road, however.
Takuto has a good control of his bicycle and applies it in many ways through the races he participate, being able to force his opponents to the gutter or the side of the road and even controlling his pacing to let his teammates rejoin him if he is far ahead of them.

Like Sangaku Manami, Takuto hates litterbugs, as proven on Glory Line Episode 21, when Takuto told Yuto Shinkai that if he loses to him, he must back-track to the beginning of the stage and pick up the banana chocolate bar wrapper that he threw on the ground. Misc He is flexible. Can bend forward 22 cm. He lives in Hakone Gakuen's dorm. Goes to the same hair salon as Yuto. When asked whether Takuto contacts anyone else who is close to him other than Junta, Sensei replied that Takuto doesn’t charge his cell phone, or ends up saving messages in Drafts when he thought that he’d sent it. So basically, if he wants to talk to someone, he does so face to face. This fact is further proven when he missed the train station by 3 stops as he commiserates for his loss at Minegayama Hill Climb Race and the team can't find him. He stated he didn't charge his phone, and left it at home altogether. He doesn't play piano as often because he doesn't see his friends from middle school. He provided the background music for Junta's J-Pop impersonations, if they aren't in karaoke with Higashido. Despite being able to play the piano, and piano being in the percussion family of instruments, he likes strings family instruments more. He also became attracted to road cycling due to the sounds and the various "strings" on the cycle, from the spokes on the wheels and the chain itself. Despite being from Hokkaido, his regional accent isn't pronounced. Takuto and Masakiyo Doubashi have a somewhat good relationship with each other due to their similar situations with abnormally huge bodies. Takuto's biggest worry when he started high school is the fact he keeps growing to the point that he can no longer control his body due to his growth spurt and higher center of gravity. He hated that s
Yasutomo Arakita
Yasutomo is known for his narrow eyes with eyelashes on his lower eyelids, his expressive mouth and for the different hairstyles he had through the years. During his middle school, Yasutomo had a shaved buzz-cut hairstyle due to his time at the Yokohama Hinoe Middle Baseball Club, following the Japan's baseball players pattern of doing it in order to learn discipline and perseverance.
After graduating and going to high school, Yasutomo styled his hair into a pompadour, but he later cut it off after meeting Juichi and going to the Hakone's bicycle club. His hair was quite short afterwards, but his bangs have grown out into his current hairstyle, still short, but long enough to reach his eyes. He got into the university not from recommendation, but by passing its entrance exam. He's afraid of eyedrops. He has a talent to 'sniff out' underclassmen's potential, which offended Kuroda, but turns out to be accurate.

He's even more friendly in his third year, where he opens up more socially. He seems to have developed a closer relationship with Shoukichi Naruko since they are both sprinters, and with his fellow third-year Kimitaka Koga. Hajime even refers to the team as a "six-man-team". Also, he developed a curious mentor-apprentice relationship with his rookie and first-year Issa Kaburagi which he uses messages written in a role to teach and develop on him cycling improvements based on what he learned during his three years at the club.

Midosuji Akira
Akira is tall with a remarkably long and flexible body and limbs, wide shoulders, a long neck, and a slender frame. He is described by the others as someone big and intimidating. He has wide, dark eyes and uniquely square teeth, and is often seen baring his teeth in a smile. He's also known for his extremely long tongue, which hangs out of his mouth while racing.
Akira first appears with medium-length hair that flips up at the nape of his neck, but he shaves it at the end of the second day of the 41st Summer Inter High into a buzzcut. During the Osaka race against Shoukichi Naruko, Akira sports a yellow mohawk in the manga; his mohawk appears white in the anime. Most recently, Akira appears at the 42nd Summer Inter High with a hairstyle similar to his initial one, albeit with blunt cut bangs. He also has strapped his thighs tight, only cutting the bandage lose on the final sprint, exposing his better-developed thighs, given his lean and extremely long frame. Midosuji Akira's Personality
Akira has a severe and eccentric personality; he'll do anything to win, and this includes constantly causing others emotional distress. He appears to particularly enjoy harassing Shunsuke Imaizumi due to their history, but anyone he races against becomes a target for his psychological torment and cunning. Akira has a tendency to call others, including his own teammates, "small fry" or "zaku" interchangeably. A commonly used word in his vocabulary is "gross." While it varies, he usually uses the word to describe the passionate sentiments of others, such as camaraderie or vengeful feelings. Akira takes great pride in his teeth. This stems from a comment his mother made about athletes needing beautiful teeth.
In the storyline second year, he becomes obsessed with turning everything into a wager, even when it is not directly affecting him. He also become sadistic and obsessive with trying to metamorphosize his racing style. However: He is very doting of his late mother, but because of this: He'd race as if it was his final days on Earth, but by the time he burnt himself out and again dropping out 3km from the end of the race, while indirectly helping Imaizume break through and ride clear of him, it was too late for the team to heed or realize the seniors' warnings.
Midosuji Akira's Skills and Techniques
As an all-rounder, Akira has impressive talent in every area. He beat Koutarou Ishigaki by over three minutes on the Uroshige Mountain Road. He uses his spindly frame and flexibility to his advantage in strange ways that surprise and disarm his opponents. Akira's greatest talent lies in his intellect and tactical prowess, exemplified by how he creates contingency plans for nearly every circumstance, from environmental changes to unexpectedly strong opponents, which helped him win the sprint and mountain checkpoints on Day 2 of Inter High. His combination of high mental and physical ability make him a truly formidable opponent.
Akira makes a point of researching every member from opposing teams that might pose a threat. He wastes no time in trying to break down his opponent's mentality so that he may use their pasts, fears, and weaknesses against them during a race. His efforts in this have been generally successful: Akira has bested Imaizumi multiple times through talking down to him by presenting to him worst case scenarios and blatantly laying out his weaknesses. In addition, Akira has researched Hayato Shinkai's past and used his trauma related to passing cyclists on the left to his advantage, though the that race didn't end up going according to Akira's plan. Even so, he was able to adapt in an all-out sprint and claim victory at the checkpoint, seemingly dropping Hakone Academy's morale as planned. He makes most of Kyoto Fushimi's strategies in race. Those strategies are divided into phases with certain numbers. These phases refer to certain task like: making rotation when drafting team to chases opposing team, dropping tired teammates on climb, etc. Although these term sounds rigid, Akira was able to make some adjustments in case the phases he had planned get disturbed or foiled.
