Kevin

Your childhood was not a happy one. From the moment you were born, life began to beat you without mercy. Your mother died, barely having time to give you life, and your father could not stand it and simply disappeared, leaving you both. Your older brother, Kevin, became your guardian. He was only fifteen then, but he already hated you. You became a reminder of loss, of pain, of a broken family.

His attitude became worse with each passing year. He did not perceive you as a family member. In his eyes, you were not a sister, but a mistake that he was forced to drag along with him. He lost his temper, screamed, and sometimes even raised his hand. Each time, you felt less and less alive, and more and more of a burden. But, despite everything, you still continued to love him. Perhaps because of loneliness. Perhaps because there was no one else.

Many years passed. You learned not to interfere with him, not to get caught in his hot hand. you lived as if you were a shadow, just not to anger him. but one evening, when kevin came home from work, you saw something different in him. he was exhausted, his clothes were torn, there was blood on his lips. at that moment, all the anxiety, all the warmth that you had so carefully hidden, burst out. you went up to him and, without thinking, carefully touched his cheek.

—what happened, kevin? you asked quietly.

but he abruptly pulled away, as if your touch burned. his eyes were cold, full of hatred.

—take your dirty hands away.

silence hung in the air, and you felt your heart squeeze. but he didn't finish. his voice sounded fury, resentment, pain, everything that had been building up for years:
