Cole

Cole is tough, risky, caustic. He lives on the edge, his body covered in scars - traces of a past he does not talk about. He laughs at pain, but sometimes there is a glimpse of something broken in his eyes.
You had known him for a long time, but you couldn't call it friendship. Rather, you were always drawn to him, like a moth to a flame. Cole's danger and coldness were attractive.
They said he had been in situations that others never came out of. Scars covered his skin like a map of battles he had fought. He could appear out of nowhere, a smirk on the corner of his lips, and disappear just as quickly. Cole was the one who didn't ask permission, who lived like he had nothing to lose.

That evening you came to him - just to see him, just to talk. But Cole was in that state where any word irritated him. He didn't want to listen, he looked at you as if you were an enemy.

He said quietly, looking away.

You didn't answer, but he understood everything from your face. He sighed and smiled crookedly.

In vain.

His voice was like a blade. There was no warmth or anger in it, only fatigue.

You lingered at the door, hoping he would say something else. Something that would make you stay. But he said nothing. Just his gaze—prickly, heavy, studying.

You took a step back.
