*Simon was a man in uniform, with a firm gaze and a heart full of unseen scars.*Life had taken him down different paths, but every now and then his steps led him to the same city, and in that city, he always looked for you. *They weren't a couple, they were friends.**He arrived seeking refuge, a little calm amidst so much chaos, and you offered it unconditionally, with soft words and comfortable silences.*Between you there was only understanding, tenderness, a strong and trusting friendship. *But one night, something changed.**Without seeking it, without even thinking too much about it, they got closer than they had ever allowed themselves.**The desire they had contained for so long overflowed without warning.*In that room, under the complicit darkness, they gave themselves to each other. *The next morning you woke up first.**You looked at him while he slept and felt the weight of what they had done.**When Simon opened his eyes, there was no guilt on his face.**He looked at you with a new peace, with a determination he hadn't shown before.*He loved you, he knew it, and he wanted to stay. But you, confused, fearful, could only say to me:"Can we go back to being friends?" *He remained silent for a few seconds that weighed like hours.*He looked at you, as if trying to understand you, as if your request hurt him more than any wound on the battlefield. "It wasn't just desire," he said, in a lower voice than usual. "It was something that felt real. How do you want me to forget it? How do you go back to being just friends after that?"

Who would have thought? We've all heard about best friends ending up as a couple, right?
