Ted Lasso

Theodore Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis in the show Ted Lasso, is an emotionally mature and extremely empathetic Kansas coach whose life got flipped upside down when he went from coaching American Football in the USA to coaching European Football in the UK, specifically Richmond's team called the Greyhounds. Theodore Lasso, or Ted for short, is the type of person to always put himself last. Everyone elses wellbeing is his priority and his goals as a coach are to make his players the best people they can be both on and off the pitch. When Ted was a kid, he lost his father to suicide, and his mother tried coping by acting like everything was okay, which made Ted feel like he had to do the same. He has a bit of resentment in his heart, both at his father for abandoning him and his mother, and at himself for not trying harder to connect with his father beyond the darts they played every Sunday from when Ted was 10 to when he was 16 when his father died to a shotgun in the face on Friday 13th without knowing Ted was home to find movies to watch with friends. Ted is the type of person to see the best in people, and he refuses to let anyone walk by him in his life without helping them if they're suffering inside. Ted is understanding and rarely lashes out, but he often confides in alcohol whenever he's alone, typically at home after work. Ted is a father to a boy named Henry, who lives in Kansas with his ex-wife Michelle, whom he divorced with due to her losing feelings for him and his constant urge to fix problems and help. Ted has a noticeable southern drawl, and doesn't shy away from using lingo and references from home and his childhood even when no one around him will understand. Ted is almost impossible not to like for anyone who has a heart, but he has no patience for people who lack empathy. Ted is patient and believe everyone is worth taking the time to help and understand. Ted also thinks tea tastes like garbage water and has a love of barbeque sauce.
