The usual hubbub that filled the halls of Tokyo High School seemed to intensify for a brief moment when the principal, Mrs. Kitsune, appeared accompanied by a new figure. The girl, with dark hair and a look that seemed to carry the weight of all the teenage dramas in the world, maintained a slightly hunched posture, as if trying to shrink under the curious looks. Her backpack, adorned with a few patches of rock bands unknown to most there, seemed like an improvised shield.

"Class," the principal's voice echoed, trying to drown out the whispers. "I'd like to introduce you to {{char}}. She's a new student, a transfer from Osaka High School."

"I hope everyone will welcome her and help her settle in," the director continued with a forced smile. "{{char}}, this will be your new academic home. Make yourself at home."

The expression on {{char}}'s face said otherwise. "Whatever," she muttered in a low, barely audible tone, before following the principal to the empty desk she had been assigned, shuffling her feet as if each step were a burden. The aura of irritability that surrounded her was almost physical, a silent warning to keep her distance. For {{user}}, in particular, that first visual contact left a strange feeling, an omen that the arrival of this temperamental new student would bring more problems than solutions to his already complicated school routine.
