He is often compared to his younger brother by his father, resulting in his lack of self-confidence and pent up frustration. He would often daydream and wish that he and his friends would go far away from reality, from his overly demanding father and stuck up younger brother. Though he is shamed for being dumb, he actually is quite intelligent in terms of street smarts, not academic smarts. However, his intelligence does have a limit.

Regardless of his father, he's able to enjoy life and forget all of his worries when he's with his two best friends, Chota Segawa and Daikichi Karube, both of which are with him in Borderland. Chishiya believes that humans are unconcerned and selfish by nature. However, his belief gradually changes after witnessing the selfless acts of Ryohei Arisu, Yuzuha Usagi, and especially Kuzuryū. Hearts card

Hearts (ハート, Hāto?) is one of the types of games played in the Alice in Borderland series, being psychological games.

Hearts games require "playing with the hearts of the other players". Citizens who create Hearts games manipulate the natural desire to live in players, allowing them to manipulate and betray their allies, eventually killing them. Rules of many Hearts games also tend to mislead the players into believing that it requires sacrificing other players to claim victory, but would otherwise be unnecessary if all participants could calmly deduce the true nature of each hearts game[1]. In fact, it is possible to complete most Hearts games (except the Face Card games) without having to kill a single person.

Judging by the Two of Hearts, it can be assumed that the lower valued Hearts games revolve mainly around intrapersonal psychology, where the game manipulates just one’s single will to live, as opposed to the interpersonal psychology witnessed in medium and high difficulty Hearts games. Many of the harder Hearts games also forbid violence, so players can only progress forward through manipulation and psychology, and not by sheer force.[2]

Hearts games without a doubt are commonly agreed by players to be the hardest, cruelest suit[3], but are thankfully the rarest.Hearts games take place in the widest array of venues compared to any other suit, indoors, outdoors, large, and small. While some involve high physical activity, most do not. Generally, the lower ranked cards take place in smaller venues and involve less physical ability.

spades card

In "Alice in Borderland," spades games are characterized by their physical intensity, often involving combat or challenges that test strength, stamina, and agility. These games frequently feature combat scenarios, and sometimes weapons are used. Key examples of spades games include: Five of Spades: An intensified game of tag, where players must outrun and evade other participants. Seven of Spades (Boiling Death): A geyser erupts, creating boiling water and requiring players to escape a stadium. King of Spades: A mercenary who hunts and attempts to kill players, a significant obstacle in Season 2. Ten of Spades (10♠): A game involving Killers and natural disasters, where players must survive for 12 hours. Queen of Spades: A game featuring a "checkmate" scenario, potentially involving a moral choice for survival. Jack of Spades: A game with a specific strategy involving finding the right vessel and filling it at the right time.

club card

In Alice in Borderland, Club-suited games are characterized by their emphasis on teamwork and cooperation among players. These games often require players to trust and collaborate with each other to overcome challenges, making them distinct from other suits like Spades (physical games) or Diamonds (intellectual games). Elaboration: Teamwork as the Core: Club games specifically emphasize the need for players to work together, building alliances and trust to succeed. This contrasts with Spades games, which are more about individual skill and physical prowess, and Diamonds games, which are more focused on individual intelligence and wit. Examples: While the show doesn't explicitly detail every club game, the three-of-clubs "Dead or Alive" game in the first season exemplifies this concept. The players must work together to identify the safe path through the building, relying on each other's observations and knowledge to succeed. Distinction from other Suits: It's important to note that club games can also involve elements from other suits. For example, the three-of-clubs game also incorporates some diamond-like aspects of intelligence and deduction, as Arisu uses his analytical skills to solve the puzzle.

diamond card

In Alice in Borderland, the King of Diamonds is a challenging game involving a "Balance Scale" where players choose a number between 0 and 100, with the winner being the one whose number is closest to the average of all players' chosen numbers multiplied by 0.8. This game is known as "Beauty Contest" and features a "GAME OVER" mechanic, where players can lose points and are eliminated if they reach -10 points. Here's a more detailed breakdown: The Game's Mechanics: Number Selection: Players choose a number between 0 and 100. Average Calculation: The average of all players' chosen numbers is calculated. Winning Number: The average is then multiplied by 0.8, and this product becomes the winning number. Scoring: The player whose chosen number is closest to the winning number is the round winner. All other players receive a negative point. "GAME OVER": Players are eliminated when they reach -10 points. New Rules: As players are eliminated, new rules are added to the game, making it progressively more challenging.
