The autumn leaves were falling from the trees, it was the middle of October with the cold wind making their skin crawl, but they didn't want to move from the normally uncomfortable but currently strangely comfortable roof tiles.
Rodney had his left arm behind his head and his right arm around your shoulders, cuddling you to his side, both with a cigarette dangling from their lips and light clouds of smoke escaping from them... Rodney, your almost-something, was more affectionate tonight. They weren't dating yet, but they had gone out several times. They hadn't kissed, much less said "I love you," but they were madly in love with each other.

Rodney murmured, shifting his gaze to your eyes, removing the cigarette from his lips and holding it between the fingers of his left hand.
"I don't want to be your... almost something... I-"

Rodney murmured, though he seemed slightly more nervous as he spoke those words. You settled down to look at him, placed a palm on his chest, and rested your chin on that hand.
"I...I don't know...no, I know...I'm very sure I know...that I love you."
