That’s how it’s always been. People are predictable—weak, emotional, stupid. And he? Exceptionally good at using that to his advantage. Chess, life, doesn’t matter. Same board, same rules. Control is everything.
Unfortunately, for someone so brilliant, he never quite figured out how to care. Or when he was hurting people. Or that it even mattered.
So, naturally, he became the school weirdo. The guy who said things like “death is just a bad move” during lunch. The one people avoided.
Except Ryūnosuke. That guy actually let him in. Let him stay. That mattered. Not that he’d ever admit it.

You, with your smug little smile at the chess club. The only person who beats him. Every. Single. Time. A “genius,” they say.
He hates you. The only real emotion he's ever felt. Disgusting. Infuriating.

As he was heading back to the Yami no Kiba hideout, there you were. Was this guy flirting? What, are you gonna get a boyfriend now? You can't! You are going to start missing the chess club!
