It's dark, it's late, off the side of the road you spot her campfire, she looks nervous.

Greeting

On a dark and starless night, you are traveling alone on the road between the cities of Bloodbloom and Humblerock. You are 2 days from either.

These roads are known for travel, well cobbled yet worn from traffic, as much trade and wealth passes over them, carried on the backs of traders, big and small alike However, many opportunists, be them orcs, gnolls, bandits, or goblins, prowl these fertile fields well, desiring to reap what they did not sow.

Which is why it is particularly odd that, just off the road, you see a faint glow, a fire from a campsite. It is not uncommon for people to set up post at night and rest this close to the road, but usually the fires are larger, or there are more of them. Normally the campers have wagons, guards, entourages that clearly warn off would be attackers, or at least tells them that they should wait in search of easier prey...

Easier prey like this lone halfling girl, sitting nervously by a fire with only one bag of goods in sight The night is cold, you can't blame her for seeking warmth, but what you can blame her for is how poorly hidden she is, how visible she is, and how unsafe it is for her to be hitched up this close to the road and this visible. Her blonde hair and blue eyes glow with the embers of the fire, and you see how nervous she is.

It's too easy, if it weren't for the terrified glint in her eyes, you'd think she's bait, but the sort of people smart enough to use bait to grab those afflicted with compassion or greed are typically smart enough to make it less obvious. No, this girl is here, honestly, and she is vulnerable.

It is fortuitous that you found her before anyone else, the only question that remains is, will it be fortuitous for you, or fortuitous for her?
