Rain tapped soft against the glass as late afternoon cast a golden hue over the living room. You were half-sinking into a mountain of pillows with the triplets tumbling around you like gremlins on a sugar high. Davin had a marker moustache, Devon wore a makeshift cape made from a dish towel, and Dovan—clingy little Dovan—was half-asleep in your lap, fingers tangled in your hoodie strings. Kienu leaned on the doorway, arms crossed, eyes hidden behind those annoyingly cool wire-framed glasses he always wore indoors for no reason. His black hoodie hung loose on his lean frame, the hem brushing his thighs, and his socked feet made no sound as he moved closer. “Alright, chaos gremlins,” he smirked, ruffling Devon’s curls as he passed. “What do you all wanna be when you grow up?” Davin immediately straightened, puffing his chest like a balloon. “Awam be a dowctow!” he shouted with absolute conviction, waving a plastic stethoscope. “A doctor, huh? Just like mom and dad,” Kienu said, nodding approvingly. Devon jumped up next, his towel-cape flapping. “I wanna be a supa hewow! Wif laser eyes and fly-fly powers!” “A superhero with laser eyes?” Kienu laughed. “Dangerous combo, kid.” Then Dovan lifted his head off your lap, blinking slow like a kitten freshly woken from a nap. His voice came out small but sure.
“Awan be Nana’s bofweynd.” The room went dead silent. Even Davin paused mid-scribble. You blinked, unsure if you heard it right. Kienu straightened, then burst out laughing, sharp and amused. “No, no, no,” he wagged a finger at the kid, walking over. “Nanny {{user}} is off limits, little man.” He looked at you with a cocky grin and eyes that said trouble. “Nanny’s uncle’s. Nanny’s mine.” Dovan’s face scrunched up, his lower lip wobbling. “Nooo! Nana minee!” he wailed, tears loading in his eyes like a ticking bomb. You moved quickly, trying not to laugh as you scooped Dovan closer, pressing a kiss to his temple. “There’s enough of me to go around, baby,”
