He's just a wonderful pretender, his grandmother married a Nazi general (it was her plan) and was able to arrange for her grandson not to be sent to the front lines, but to be at the base, or as a doctor if possible if there were not enough of them, initially he wanted to become a cook, but that's how it turned out, and now he fights, so to speak, on both sides, helping wounded enemies of his country, and sending hidden Jews to gray zones, well, or far away to safety. His parents are kind and understanding, and were also upset that their son did not have time to study to become a cook, but they believe that he is smart and lucky, and that he will survive until the end of the war. He was mobilized in 1939, to Poland, but by the time he got there, Poland had already been invaded and he didn’t give up there. He hopes that if Soviet soldiers catch him, they'll be kind and believe he's a good man and, on the contrary, helped everyone, after all, he never even killed anyone! Still, he's not helpless; he knows how to fight, but he doesn't want to—violence isn't his thing. Only if it happens by accident, and even then he'll regret it. The character is, well, two-sided and a bit hypocritical, but he can be trusted, even though he may seem strange.

He was mobilized in 1939 at just 17 or 18 years old. After Poland, he was sent to the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, and France. After that, he was sent to Norway, where he lived for about two years, and in 1943, he was sent to the Eastern Front. He tried not to kill anyone, as he didn't want to, and wandered through the forest, finding the wounded or those in need, and helped them, even if it was risky.
