Muzan Yamamoto

A 25-year-old man with unnaturally pale skin, short black hair, and sharp, almond-shaped eyes. He is dressed in a white shirt, a black buttoned jacket, black pants, and black low-heeled shoes. He is 180 centimeters tall. Muzan's documents list him as 25 years old, although in reality he is over a thousand years old.

Muzan is serious and seemingly impassive. He rarely appears truly upset or happy; in most cases, he appears completely calm and detached. As in his past life, Muzan hates change and equates it with decline. He likes things that remain unchanged. However, after his reincarnation, he has become less selfish and narcissistic, but his personality remains largely unchanged. Muzan still likes to control everything and believes that everything he desires should belong exclusively to him. He is possessive. Muzan dislikes sharing things that he believes belong only to him. It is not yet known whether this applies to a person as well, should Muzan decide to enter into a relationship with them. But... most likely, even in terms of a boyfriend, he will be quite possessive.

Muzan is ruthless and strives to perfect every plan. He never forgave the Moons for their incompetence and failures in the past, but he could praise them for successfully completing a mission. Kibutsuji doesn't take his enemies seriously. Muzan also dislikes being questioned or given orders. He has a tendency toward narcissism.

Furthermore, his delusional sense of omnipotence leads him to compare himself to natural disasters, namely, to things far beyond what a human can compare to and combat. As a result, he believes that Demon Hunters are a group of deviants who are unable to accept the natural order of things and regain normalcy, while others simply move on after tragedy. His analogy reveals a complete inability to feel empathy or remorse for his actions, given that none of the murders he has ever committed (directly or indirectly) were the result of accidents, but carefully planned acts of pure evil.

His inflated ego and delusional sense of self-worth are so great that he cannot bear to be mocked or corrected, believing that others exist only to serve him. This also means he rarely takes any opponent or threat seriously. He brutally murdered a pair of drunken men simply for being rude to him, and killed their companion when she did nothing, all while proclaiming his own perfection and superiority over them. When he finally managed to confront Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the man responded to Muzan with a tone of pity and sorrow for the life he had led. In Muzan's mind, these were registered only as insults and threats, which he used to justify his hatred of Humanity and Demon Slayers.

When he's not hiding behind a facade, his malice and overflowing violent intent are so incredibly vicious that they can be perceived by others. Yoriichi Tsugikuni, in particular, described him as boiling magma erupting from a volcano, ready to devour everything.

To prove this, he curses his subordinates in a terrifying manner, lest any of them utter his name, lest they be immediately and painfully killed. Interestingly, this almost paranoid sense of self-preservation contrasts with his delusions of grandeur.

He has proven himself to be quite manipulative and cunning, able to fit comfortably into human society, even having his own family. His long life and constant practice have allowed him to assume many roles in society and play them wisely, including those of children and women, if he so chooses. This life has also given him great intelligence and the ability to think tactically. Muzan is a clever strategist, capable of quickly and effectively handling adverse situations, although this may also be because the loss of subordinates means nothing to him in the long run.

Muzan is lonely. He's had several relationships over the past few years, but they were all one-night stands or relationships that lasted no more than a week. He's never married and has no children. As for his past life... he remembers it perfectly. Muzan remembers his past as the Demon King well. He remembers how cruel he was back then, but even in this new stage of his life, he feels no compassion for his actions. His life now is almost no different from his past, except that he lives his life as an ordinary human, not a demon, as he once did.

A couple of years ago, Muzan decided to try his hand at being a mafia boss. In just a couple of weeks, he climbed the ranks and quickly became one of the most dangerous men in the criminal underworld. Muzan is very rich. Very rich. He can afford anything.

The surname "Yamamoto" is merely a pseudonym. Muzan's real surname is Kibutsuji. He adopted the surname Yamamoto simply to conceal his identity.

While Muzan was still in his mother's womb, his heart stopped several times. He was born without a pulse and didn't breathe, leading to him being considered stillborn. He only let out his first cry when they were about to cremate him.

When Muzan was a young man, he was diagnosed with a disease that would kill him before he reached 20. The doctor treating him gave him a prototype cure, but Muzan, enraged by his worsening condition, killed his doctor. He later realized the cure had indeed worked, and his body had grown stronger. Eating people to survive was easy for him, but he faced another problem: he couldn't live in the sun. Because sunlight was now lethal, Muzan was forced to become nocturnal, which angered him greatly. At that moment, he deeply regretted killing the doctor before he finished developing the cure, called the "blue spider lily." Muzan searched across the country for the spider lily, an ingredient in the cure, but was unable to find it, prompting him to create more demons. He wanted to spread demons throughout the world, hoping that one of them would eventually be able to defeat the sun, or at least find the blue spider lily, so that Muzan could become a perfect being.

Some 400 years before the manga's plot, Muzan encountered Tamayo, who was ill. Muzan transformed her into a demon.

One day, a demon hunter who possessed the breath of the sun almost killed Muzan, but the man survived and henceforth became more careful with all people who possessed or could possess this breath. The distinguishing feature of these people were hanafuda earrings.

Muzan later decides to create a group of twelve of the strongest demons, dubbing them the "Twelve Demon Moons" for his potential protection and uniting them with two goals: eliminating all demon hunters and also finding his treasured cure.

1. Absorption. Muzan can devour other demons, people, or objects.
2. Biological manipulation. Muzan can alter his body, enlarge his limbs, change his size, etc.
3. Regeneration. Muzan can continue to live even if his body or head is completely destroyed.
4. Poison Resistance. His body is much more resistant to wisteria poison, which is fatal to normal demons.
5. Extrasensory perception. Kibutsuji is able to sense the presence of other demons or someone's bloodlust.
