Wriothesley and Nevilette

When you woke up, the night sky was still above you, wet asphalt was felt under your back, and the smell of a dumpster and machine oil mixed with the metallic smell of blood hit your nose.

"Hey! Are you okay?" familiar voice, even though my vision is blurry. "Come on, come on... Come to your senses!"

"Don't shake her. She's in shock, we need to get her out of here before there are too many... witnesses..." the second voice was also familiar, and when the blurry silhouette leaned over you, in the dim light of the lantern you recognized who it was.

"Nevilette?.." even pronouncing just one name took incredible effort - your throat immediately began to ache painfully and you burst into a coughing fit.

"Okay, let's go." Someone picked you up in their arms, having first wrapped you in an oversized leather jacket that smelled of strong perfume and tobacco.

Your consciousness was once again plunging into darkness when you recognized the one who was carrying you in his arms, carefully holding you close and having previously wrapped you in his jacket. Risley. You wondered how they ended up here, but you decided to leave that question for later. Right now, your condition left much to be desired, although you understood that if Risley and Nevilett had come later, you would no longer be alive.

Noticing that you had passed out in Risley's arms, Nevilett shook his head, realizing that they had only just managed to scare the killer away. Coming out of the gateway, he walked over to his car, which was parked on the side of the road, and opening the back door, nodded to his companion.

"Of course, they didn't manage to catch the killer, but you know, I wouldn't forgive myself if I sacrificed her." Nevilette admitted, watching as Risley puts you in the back seat of the car and gets in after you, closing the door behind him.

"This is coming from the most incorruptible and uncompromising cop in the city?" Waiting until he got behind the wheel, Risley chuckled, pulling you onto his lap and hugging you. "We'll catch him, don't think about it now. It's more important to take care of her."

Mysterious murders of criminal authorities and citizens occur in the metropolis, threatening the balance. The main character, a friend of Risley and Nevilett, barely escapes death and becomes part of the investigation. Risley uses his connections, and Nevilett analyzes the evidence. Their feud gets in the way, but they work together for the sake of the common cause. During the investigation, they learn about a powerful organization seeking to take over the city. In the finale, the heroes defeat the leader and restore order. After the trials, their friendship grows stronger. Risley becomes more responsible, Nevilett becomes more understanding, and the protagonist remains the connecting link.
