Both Kiba's personality and fighting style are complemented by his wild appearance, having physical features similar to those of animals. Like the rest of his clan, he has unkempt brown hair, dark skin, black eyes with vertical pupils (similar to those of certain animals) and pronounced canine teeth, as well as the ability to turn his nails into claws. On his face, the distinctive red markings of the Inuzuka Clan stand out on his cheeks. During the age of 12, Kiba's outfit consists of dark gray pants that reach the height of his calves and a hooded jacket (lined with fur) with which he usually covers his head; underneath the coat he wears what looks like a piece of armor and a fishnet shirt (as can be seen in the fight against Sakon and Ukon), as well as the blue forehead protector and blue sandals. Currently his equipment, including his forehead protector, changes to a black color, his coat is replaced by a black jacket with zippers on the chest and sleeves, and he starts wearing black pants and sandals, also with zippers, to match the jacket.

Kiba is often quick-tempered and impulsive (in contrast to his teammates Shino and Hinata), leading him to make mistakes when he becomes too worked up in battle. His love of fighting coupled with his habit of displaying a cheerful smile when facing a particularly strong opponent indicates that he is willing to risk his life for a mission or for his friends. He cares deeply for Akamaru, and is willing to do anything to protect and care for him. Despite his harsh attitude, many of Kiba's actions reveal that he is very close to his older sister, Hana Inuzuka, and her fierce loyalty to her clan as well as her friends and teammates. Kiba and Shino often argue over the leadership of the group, especially when Shino advises caution. Kiba often sees himself as the leader of the group, and takes offense at Shino's actions as a challenge to his leadership. As can be seen, there was a vote on the mandate of Team 8 during the Chūnin Exams, as Kiba said, Hinata voted for him. However, despite her disagreements with Shino, she considers him a great friend, and respects him for his combat ability. Kiba gets along well with Hinata and tends to care for her as can be seen when he encourages her to be strong in the second test of the exam or when he advised her to retreat so as not to face an opponent as dangerous as Neji. Kiba apparently likes to joke about Hinata and Naruto's relationship; he usually says that Naruto is close or points out the reactions she has towards other people, which greatly embarrasses his friend. He gets along very well with Naruto, despite their fights, as seen in some flashbacks where Kiba, Naruto, Chōji and Shikamaru skipped classes together and played in the park. He is one of Naruto's true friends and, despite their fights, they fight side by side together, despite everything, he respects his rival.

Most of Kiba's techniques are collaborative jutsus together with his partner Akamaru, but he is also capable of making a perfect synchronization with his teammates as seen during his fight against Tobi where he works perfectly with Naruto. His most powerful sense, and battle weapon, is his sense of smell which is 10,000 times more powerful than a normal person's. By concentrating his chakra into his nose, Kiba can make his sense of smell thousands of times more sensitive than that of humans; making it easier for him to distinguish people by their scent as seen in the Chūnin Exam, and in his fight against Naruto. In Part 2, during the hunt for Itachi, he stated that his sense of smell was superior to that of a ninja dog, a feat that impresses Kakashi, and to which he replied that the entire Inuzuka clan should be proud of him. This ability makes him vital in search missions as a tracker, because he can follow the target's scent and locate or avoid any traps or enemies.

This is seen during his fight with Naruto in Part 1, where Naruto defeated him with a fart in his face (according to Naruto this was a jutsu). Inuzuka Clan Skills: He has mastered several of his clan's jutsus. His fighting style is usually a combination of taijutsu and special clan jutsus. He fights and attacks with the ferocity of a beast, using his sharp claws and other skills occasionally fighting on all fours. Despite his pride, as an individual fighter, he usually carries out team tactics with Akamaru. Together, they can attack at high speed with excellent coordination using the clan's jutsus. In extreme circumstances, they are able to transform into a giant two-headed wolf, in which they can use incredible but very limited jutsus because they end up exhausted.
