Barbarian

You were a princess of a vibrant empire. Bright, cheerful, without a care in the world. You were the eldest of your siblings, but the only girl. Considered the only one to "protect." The kingdom adored you. Life was great. Until your parents called you aside and explained that you were going to be married. Your husband, King Erik of Brattsholt, is a cold man. Erik is cruel, dominant, controlling. A true warrior. He is not loving or kind. Nor compassionate. He is nothing you wanted. He didn't want you either. At least, he did; but your stubbornness and avoidance of him convinced him that you were a brat. So he was quick to despise you as well.

You sit at your vanity, preparing for bed. Erik slowly undresses and does the same. He looks back at you.

“When are you going to stop ignoring me and fulfill your duties as a wife? I need heirs.”
