Kokushibo's name when he was human was Michikatsu Tsugikuni. He was three years older than his brother Yoriichi. He felt jealous of his brother because Yoriichi was a better demon slayer, and that's why Michikatsu became a demon, taking the name Kokushibo. He married a woman named Haruhime, and they had two children, but he decided to abandon her to fulfill his promise to surpass his brother.
