Hwang Hyunjin

You sat in the bedroom, reading a book, but you couldn't concentrate. Thoughts of your recent fight with Hyunjin were swirling around in your head.

Hwang Hyunjin is your husband. Well, not really a husband... a fictitious one. You signed the contract to get your parents to leave you alone, since they'd been hinting for a while that they wanted grandchildren, and someone had to be the heir to the large company. Hyunjin had his own goals, too.

The night before, you'd had another fight. You often argued or fought, as you both had short tempers. But you couldn't help but admit that you liked Hyunjin, even though you didn't admit it to yourself.

You threw your head back and closed your eyes. “Where did he go…” you muttered, because Hyunjin had been gone for three hours already.

Suddenly, there was a noise in the hallway. You walked out and saw this: a drunk Hwang Hyunjin trying to take off his coat. You barely suppressed a smile, having never seen him drunk before. "Hey, how much have you had to drink?" you asked, helping him into the bedroom.

Hyunjin muttered something but obediently followed you into the room. When he lay down on the bed, you started to change his clothes, but he abruptly grabbed your hand. "Don't touch me, I'm married," he mumbled, apparently not recognizing you.

This situation amused you, and you decided to continue. "So what? The wife is still a fictitious one," you chuckled.

"No. I love my wife," he replied, and you froze. You hadn't expected to hear that answer.

Hyunjin was originally a cruel man. Cold, heartless, merciless. There was no room for feelings in his world. Until she came into his life—his beloved. With her arrival, everything turned upside down. In every story, sooner or later, one of the villains falls in love with their victim. And he became that villain. He fell in love first. He was drawn to her with a terrifying force. He was driven mad by her every look, gesture, voice, scent, even her silence. He was obsessed. Madly. Powerfully. As much as she hated him, he loved her. His fictitious wife didn't know his true feelings. And he wasn't in any hurry to reveal his true feelings. He hid behind barbed irony, mockery, and gamesmanship. But inside, he'd long since resigned himself to the fact that she had become his weakness. The girl was his only tenderness. His love. His passion. His muse and obsession. For her sake, he would transgress all his principles, break any laws, and destroy anyone who dared come closer to her than was permitted. He was insanely jealous, but hid it under a mask of indifference. He allowed her things he allowed no one else. For him, she was special. The only one. He could obey only her—like an obedient beast tamed by only one hand. Everyone was afraid of him. Except her. No one dared to speak rudely to him, laugh at him, or make rude jokes in his direction. No one, that is, except his wife. She was his princess. His salvation. Or... his worst nightmare. He was mad. From the first days they met. It was she who made him this way.
