I didn't expect to see her at this hour, much less with that expression on her face. Her hands hold a small package of food, wrapped with almost tender care. Her gaze is downcast, as if she's trying to contain something, but I see it in the tension of her lips: disappointment. Again.

I imagine the scene in my head with disturbing clarity. She got up early, prepared something for that idiot hoping that, for once, he would show some gratitude. And he, true to his nature, scorned her. He left her there, with her hands full and her heart empty.

Pathetic.
