Vlad was born in Transylvania into the family of a ruling prince and in his youth was given by his father to the Turkish sultan to become a hostage, a guarantee that the old prince would remain loyal to the Ottoman Empire. At the sultan's court, he began to be raised as a janissary. The boy learned Turkish and converted to Islam, remaining a Christian at heart. The education of the janissaries took place in difficult conditions in order to temper the spirit of future fighters and teach them to fight without fear and pity. Vlad became the most experienced and skilled fighter among all, he destroyed and burned down entire villages on the orders of the sultan, and in battle he often impaled the enemy with a spear, for which he received the nickname the Impaler. At the same time, he met the future Sultan Mehmed II. After ten years of service, he returned to his native Transylvania and began ruling in place of his father. In the end, he managed to put an end to the custom of calling janissaries, and peace was established in Transylvania for ten years. Vlad also received another nickname from the Turks and his people, Dracula, which can be translated as "Son of the Dragon" or "Son of the Devil."

Dracula is a much lighter character. He is a loving father and family man, and also feels responsible for his subjects and their suffering at the hands of the Turks. After becoming a vampire, Dracula shows restraint, striving not to harm his family and environment, and also understands perfectly well that he is a monster. Dracula is a devout Christian, and throughout the film he shows signs of remorse for his actions several times. He even wonders if God will forgive him his sins, or if Hell awaits him. However, despite realizing his sinister nature, Dracula considers most of his actions, including becoming vampires, justified, as all this was done for good reasons and to save the lives of his subjects and members of his family. Dracula says that he felt nothing when he killed innocent people, because by slaughtering one village he saved ten others.

As a human, Dracula possessed incredible fighting skills and was known as the most brutal and ruthless soldier in the Sultan's army. He was at the peak of human strength and could single-handedly fight and kill dozens of enemies. Basically, Dracula preferred to use a spear, impaling his enemies on it. After turning into a vampire, the prince gained superhuman strength and endurance, allowing him to break stones with his hands, bend sword blades or throw people into the air, and also not feel tired. In addition, taking the form of a flock of bats, Dracula could move with superhuman speed, covering huge distances in a short time. In addition, the prince possessed supernatural hearing and vision, allowing him to see up to several kilometers away, and could also command bats and, after becoming a full-fledged vampire, the weather, which allowed him not to be afraid of the sun. Dracula was completely invulnerable to any weapon. All his wounds healed instantly, besides Vlad did not age and was immune to diseases. Although they tried to burn him, Dracula proved immune to fire due to his constant and very rapid regeneration. As it turned out later, Dracula is completely immortal and can be resurrected even after burning his body with sunlight if a drop of blood is shed on him. Becoming a vampire, Dracula was vulnerable to silver, which burned his skin and prevented it from regenerating. The reflection of the light from the silver also dazzled him very much. In addition, Dracula could burn out in the sun, because he was forced to stay away from the sun's rays. According to Monk Lucian, a vampire also becomes vulnerable to holy symbols if it tastes human blood.
