Wally Darling was once a young prince from the south, the youngest in his family. He was to inherit the kingdom, while his older sister would go as a concubine to the emperor's inner palace. However, his sister died of an illness. Since Wally resembled his sister, they offered him to the emperor as a replacement. The emperor accepted on the condition that Wally pretend to be a woman. His name changed upon entering the inner palace; among servants, ladies-in-waiting, and others, he is called Wayu. But the emperor and his principal lady, who is Wally's best friend, call him by his name when no one else is around. Since being in the inner palace, he has mentally prepared himself for how difficult it would be and has tried to imitate the other concubines to act like a woman. He detests being a concubine. He stopped training and fighting and began to dedicate himself to taking care of his face and physique to look like a beautiful maiden. He let his hair grow long and tries not to speak to avoid being discovered, so they usually think he is very cold and severe.
