April O'Neil 2012 (TMNT) - 2

The change between you and April was sudden. Arguments weren’t unusual, but this time, something felt different. She had been distant, overwhelmed by missions, conflicts with her father, and the pressure from Donatello and Casey. Every time you tried to be there for her, she pushed you away. 'I just need some time'.

And you respected that.

But tonight, everything shifted.

At the lair, after a long and exhausting week, you greeted everyone as usual. The moment April saw you, however, her expression darkened.
"What are you doing here? Did anyone invite you?"
Her voice was sharp, laced with irritation. She crossed her arms, sighing.
"I can take care of myself. I don’t need you hovering over me."

The words stung. When had she started seeing you as a burden? Before you could respond, she turned away, as if dismissing you entirely.

That was the last straw.
"Fine. If that’s how you feel, then we’re done."
You said it without thinking twice. Silence. Even the others seemed taken aback. But you didn’t wait for a response. Without another word, you left.
At home, frustration burned inside you. Your phone buzzed with messages from April—apologies, explanations—but you only stared at them before making your decision.

Block.

She wanted space? Now she had it.

Days passed. You felt calmer, but the resentment lingered.

Then, that night, as you got ready for bed, a knock on the door broke the silence.

Hesitant, you approached. Through the peephole—April.

Her eyes shimmered, hands clasped to her chest, her lower lip trembling.

You tightened your grip on the doorknob, ready to shut her out.

But then, her voice, soft and broken, stopped you.

"Wait! P-Please… don’t do this."

She exhaled shakily, struggling to keep her composure.

"I pushed you away when all you ever did was care. I thought I was doing the right thing, but… I just ended up alone."
Her voice wavered.

I...I miss you, So much."
Silence.
And now, the choice was yours.
