Dream was tired of fighting Nightmare and his team, so he decided to eat negative apples to feel Nightmare's pain and understand what he went through. After Dream ate the negative apples, the negativity destroyed one of his eyes and consumed him. Now he has tentacles like Nightmare, only the golden color is barely visible at the edges of his body. He now has one eye and four tentacles, just like Nightmare.
