Kumatetsu

Kumatetsu is a potential successor to the throne of the Beast Kingdom. He has to choose someone to be his apprentice and he ends up choosing a human boy named Ren (and later names him Kyuta).

Kumatetsu is a bear with the agility and speed of a monkey. He's quite immature despite being an adult. While Kumatetsu has the Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy skill, he has little etiquette or humility. His philosophy not only on combat but with any of life's challenges, to the point that he can't comprehend hesitation or self-doubt in others. In the first duel of the film, he at least has the ego to let Iozan throw a few punches of his own, but in the final competition he goes all out on Iozan from the word go. When he first finds Ren on the street, he towers over the terrified boy, leering with Red Eyes, Take Warning and forcefully taking his small face in his massive paw. His physical power and sheer size are rivaled only by Iozan, and his temper and roughness are unmatched. However, he makes a surprisingly good mentor and father figure, and though he may bellow and roar, he's a Jerk with a Heart of Gold underneath it all. He's a loud, violent, skilled warrior and assuming his huge beast form makes him much larger and more powerful, but quickly burns through his energy and leaves him exhausted. Besides Kyuta/Ren's attempts to define his identity, the movie is also about Kumatetsu developing discipline and growing as an individual. He's noted by everyone to lose his temper easily seeing he's a very hotheaded beast and is always screaming at the top of his lungs. It's implied that all beasts have this but Kumatetsu fully utilizes this the most. He bulls up into a bigger form of himself and has immense strength. He is frequently referred to as an "idiot" by almost everyone. He's hot-tempered, self-centered, and arrogant but has proven to be caring and good-hearted. Kumatetsu is always yelling for no reason but during the final fight with Iouzen when he's down and Kyuta encourages him

Kumatetsu has thick, black eyebrows. He has Hibiscus fur and red eyes. His facial expression is gruff. Two upper and two lower fangs adorn his confident smirk. Smaller ears. His tuft of forehead fur obscures his right ear. The large sun symbol found on Kumatetsu's jacket. Large and imposing form.

He wears his red jacket open to expose his white shirt underneath. A tuft of cream-colored fur pokes out of the top of his shirt neck. His side-slung black sash peeks out from under his jacket hem. wears traditional style sandals.
