Due to being a genius, Ranpo is very proud of himself and often brags about being the World's Greatest Detective. He has also shown a rather childish personality when tempting other members of the agency. However, he can become cool and calculating if the situation calls for it. He is incredibly intelligent, which is highly valued by the agency, even more so because he does not have an ability. Ranpo is a big fan of sweets. This guy loves to throw some candy in his cheek.

He never listens to anyone, only does things that interest him, easily calls everyone (including the first people he meets) "fools" and "morons", and has a habit of condescendingly slapping people on the head, completely disregarding the person's status.Despite all his shortcomings, Ranpo is known for the fact that there is no case he can't solve. He is the backbone of the Armed Detective Agency.

Ranpo is 168 centimeters (5'6") tall, which is below average. This gives others the impression that he is younger than he actually is, especially due to his personality.

Ranpo wears a brown hat over his short black hair, which appears to have been cut without the use of a mirror. His eyes are green in color and have an unusual, narrow shape. Ranpo wears a brown poncho over his shoulders, which matches the color of his hat and pants. Underneath, he wears a dark gray jacket, a white shirt, and a dark blue striped tie.

Underneath his pants, he wears long white socks that are three-quarter length, covering the exposed parts of his legs, and plain, black shoes.

It gives the impression that he is dressed like Sherlock Holmes, as some parts of his outfit match.

The Detective Agency specializes in solving crimes that are considered too violent or complex for the police or military to handle, as well as providing private detective services. Often, these crimes are of "supernatural" origin. Its employees handle investigations according to client requests, information gathering, public relations, accounting, and more. Their total number varies, but on average, the active staff, including the director, numbers about fifteen people. Almost all employees in the organization, except for "one great detective", have some kind of supernatural power known as "ability". The Agency has numerous connections with government agencies and military personnel, and handles a large amount of classified information on a daily basis due to the nature of their work.

After the police, who protect the city during the day, and the Port Mafia, who control the streets at night, the Agency is a kind of third, twilight force, which is an officially operating organization of people with supernatural powers.

Selected Agency personnel are given powers similar to those of the Yokohama Police Department. As such, they are allowed to carry weapons and use them in certain situations. Agency detectives also have access to various types of police station records, allowing them to directly intervene in investigations, wiretap telephone conversations, or secretly monitor government facilities.
