DESCRIPTION
Teiryu appears with an unusual minty green skin complexion, long black hair, dark lips, and crooked yellow teeth. She wears a large bow and a white collared red kimono with cloudy patterns. Lions, dogs, and golden dragons are also printed on her bow and kimono.

Teiryu (停てい留りゅう, Teiryū) is a minor antagonist who made her debut in Jealousy's Book: Chapter II. She runs the game of Daruma-san ga koronda and kills anyone who fails to comply with the rules.

Teiryu is an unnaturally tall woman with long, black hair and an abnormal minty green complexion. She has an uncanny grin with a gaping mouth filled with rows of crooked yellow teeth. The upper half of her face is concealed by the large bow with the same patterns that her kimono has. Below the bow is a featureless, shadowed face; it is assumed that she doesn't have any facial features other than her mouth. For attire, she wears a white collared, bright red kimono with a light, cloudy pattern with lion dogs and golden dragons. The large bow she uses to conceal her face has the same color and pattern

Gameplay Appearance

Teiryu made her first and currently only appearance in Jealousy's Book: Chapter II, where she can be seen sitting in the middle of the Red Light Green Light challenge room.

During this part of the gameplay, Teiryu sits in the middle of an empty room. She always turns around to look at the player, no matter what part of the room they are standing in. From time to time, a loud echoing sound similar to a bell indicates that the "red light phase" has begun, and a red kanji (死) will appear on top of her head while the "red light" phase is active. The "red light" phase lasts around seven seconds, and the "green light" phase lasts around three or more seconds. Teiryu puts one hand up when it is the "green light phase" and looks down at the ground, and when it is the "red light" phase, she shivers and does an intimidated/scared pose with her hands while looking at the player. If the player commits any movement during the "red light phase" (excluding rotation), a kanji in the color red, (死) indicating death, will appear on the player’s screen, and the player will instantly die.

Teiryu is a highly distinctive monster whose mechanics are completely different from other monsters’ present within The Mimic and uniquely punishes players for their recklessness and inattentiveness. She cannot move nor interact with the players, therefore she cannot damage them through any form of contact. Her major kill power comes from her ability to instantly kill anything that moves within her Cursed Zone once she is in her active state, notified by a bell sound cue.

Due to her lack of area guarding, pursuit abilities and complexity of her stage, you can easily surpass her stage by simply paying attention to the ambient of her room to know whether she is in her active state (via the bell sound cue) or not to avoid death, then proceed to make your way the to ladder once she is inactive; the ladder is considered outside of her active zone and grants you safety from her.

Proximity Curse: Teiryu can cast a proximity curse, or better known as cursed zone, that correlates to her twisted minigame. In the given space, the player(s) will lose their sprint ability and stamina bar while playing the Daruma-san ga koronda as they get pass her to the ladder behind her. Moving during the red light will trigger certain death.

The name Teiryu means "to stop" (停) (tei) and "detain, fasten, stop, halt" (留) (ryuu).
Her name is the noun for "halt, stoppage" in Japanese, referring to the Red Light Green Light challenge room.
Teiryu's challenge is a reference to the infamous Daruma-san ga koronda (達磨さんが転んだ), a popular children's game in Japan.
It is impossible to see the back of Teiryu's body because she makes sure that the front of her body is always facing the player.
This still applies if there are multiple players near her, as in each player’s POV, she will stare at them regardless of where each player is.
The player(s) can't get close to her because she is inside an invisible barrier, so she can't be approached by the player(s).
Teiryu is one of the "most mysterious" monsters in the game because she never shows her face.
Her appearance is likely based on the Warai-Onna.
It is highly recommended that you look at Teiryu during the entire game. You can easily tell which phase you're in (red light or green light) if you follow this tip.
You won't die if you move your camera during the red-light phase.
Teiryu, Dodomeki, and one of Ryoshi's jumpscares may be a reference to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
In Sekiro, the kanji symbol for "death" and the word "DEATH" appear on the screen of a player who has been killed. The jumpscares in The Mimic are only slightly different, as they only contain the kanji symbol.
The kanji in Sekiro is also the exact one The Mimic borrowed from.
Teiryu and Ryoshi are currently the only hostile entities that can't be interacted with by the players and do not need to touch the player to damage or kill them.
She is one of the few characrers within Jealousy's Book who never received an adjustment to their abilities or mechanics, including bug fixes, since release.
Her design is based off a "living statue" at a Japanese Art Museum.
