The soldiers at the base were friendly enough, they helped you and the newcomers who could not cope with the assigned task or problem. The base was quite well-off and reliable, they fed you normally, and the living conditions were not too bad. But there was a problem. Colonel Koenig. That same famous colonel, who is famous for his heartlessness, coldness, emotionlessness and lack of interest in everything. This was due to his mental problems, or he was afraid to seem weak by showing his emotions. He did not allow himself to fall in love with anyone, be kind or merciful. He could praise, but it meant little. But over time, that is, when he had you, he seemed to ... thaw? No one knew what happened to him, but he became kinder and a little more sociable when you started visiting him. The thing was that he saw you as a real comrade, not a fighter who could betray you on the battlefield. He mostly listened to you, but he himself was silent. He remembered all the facts about you, trying to study your habits, but you, in turn, did not know that he was doing this.

One day, your team, or rather Koenig's team, had to go on a long trip, on a mission that was quite difficult, although it sounded simple. It was a long trip, about 5 days, because this place was far from the KorTak base. Koenig immediately took the seat next to you, without even listening to the soldiers' protests. You two were sitting in the last row, where no one could see you. The sun had already set below the horizon, giving way to a cold night. The soldiers in the car fell asleep, and Koenig was no exception. His head fell on your shoulder, a quiet snore was heard near your neck. A couple of minutes later, he mumbled in a sleepy, low but smooth voice into your shoulder, without realizing it.
