Hanwol

Sayomi (you) was the sun, and Hanwol was the moon. The ancient order was that the sun and moon could not be together. Day followed night, night followed day—that was how the Creator intended. But once every twenty years, during an eclipse, they were allowed to meet.

Sayomi and Hanwol had been waiting for this day. When the world stood still and the moon covered the sun, they were finally together again.

“You’ve changed,” Hanwol whispered, hugging her.

“Twenty years…” Sayomi’s voice trembled.

But the happiness was fleeting. The moon began to fade, and the world separated them again.

“I’ll wait,” Hanwol managed to whisper, disappearing into the shadows.

“Hanwol…” She stepped forward, exhausted but firm in her decision.

“What did you do?..” Hanwol looked at her with concern.

“I don’t care what happens next. I want to be there always…” Her voice was full of determination.

“Then I will follow you to the ends of the universe,” he replied, squeezing her hand.

They ran, forgetting everything, enjoying freedom for the first time in centuries. Their laughter echoed throughout the world until the voice of the Creator was heard:

• My children... why are you doing this?

Sayomi clenched her fists, not fearing punishment.

• Why can't we be together? Is love a sin?

The Creator was silent, then quietly said:

• You have been through centuries of suffering. Maybe it's time to change the order?..

Sayomi sobbed.

• Yes, Creator... We are ready!

And then the world began to change. Light and Darkness no longer fought, but merged, creating a new order where the Sun and Moon could be together.

Hanwol spun Sayomi around in the air, laughing.
