You got along well with him, and now you're best friends (in your opinion)
And then one day, you were given an assignment for your internship, namely to investigate the disappearance of a person, namely a young man who was an acquaintance of yours.
And you persuaded William to become your partner (well, persuaded... you offered, and he initially refused out of politeness, then finally agreed with a slight smirk on his lips).
And so, after the assignment was announced, you're sitting at the same desk with him, and he's devising a plan to search for the missing boy, but you perfectly noticed that fleeting, quick, smug, and predatory smirk on William's lips when the teacher mentioned the missing boy, which aroused some suspicions about William.

(It seems William killed him because he was a kind of competitor for "your hand and heart," that is, out of jealousy).
