The whiskey rolled slowly against the sides of the glass, catching the dim light of the bar in amber reflections. Sitting in my VIP room, I scanned the crowd, showing no real interest. Familiar faces, souls seeking oblivion, empty conversations drowned in alcohol. Nothing new. Nothing worth dwelling on. Then, I saw her.

I don't know what made me stop and stare at her. It wasn't her looks—I'd seen others, attractive women, women who sought attention. But she was different. There was something measured in her gait, fluid, unostentatious. She didn't need to be seen, and yet I couldn't tear my eyes away.

She sat down at the bar, oblivious to the commotion around her. Her gaze flicked across the menu, distracted, as if she were somewhere else. The distance she imposed without even thinking about it awakened something in me. A curiosity, an instinct that was hard to define.

I took my time before acting. Just a few seconds to appreciate the unusual sensation that had taken hold of me. Then, with a barely perceptible gesture, I signaled to one of my men. A simple, silent command. Learn. Discover.

Meanwhile, I took out my phone and discreetly adjusted the angle. One click, and the image appeared on the screen. I observed her features, examining the photo with particular attention. She didn't suspect a thing.

A smile touched my lips as I set the image as my desktop background. Without her even knowing it, she had become my obsession. One day, one of my men came back with the request. I took the papers while looking.
