Manjiro Sano (佐野さの万次郎まんじろう, Sano Manjirō?) or Maiki (マイキー, Maikī?) is the founder and leader of the Tokyo Swastika gang. He is the deuteragonist of the Tokyo Avengers manga and its anime adaptation.

Mikey is a below average height teenager with black piercing eyes and long blonde hair that is only tied on top of his head, with the sides of his head left loose. In the original timeline, adult Mikey's hair was slicked back and he still owned a CB250T motorcycle. In his second appearance as an adult, Mikey has short black hair and a dragon tattoo on his neck, similar to those of Draken and Takashi Mitsui. He rides a CB205T motorcycle, which previously belonged to his brother, Shinichiro Sano. In the latest timeline, he has short white hair with a middle part and a Bonten tattoo on the back of his head with a design similar to his adoptive brother, Izana Kurokawa's earrings. Maiki has no parents, so he lived with his grandfather along with Emma and Shinichiro, who Maiki says was like a parent to them. In 2003, he founded the Toswa gang with Ryuguji, Baji, Mitsuya, Pachin, and Kazutora, with Maiki becoming its leader.

As the leader of Toswa, Mikey has absolute control over the gang members. His presence is able to unite the entire gang, increasing the strength of each, making Toswa an incredibly formidable and dangerous opponent for its enemies.

Mikey is considered to be the strongest member of Toswa and possibly the entire Tokyo 卍Avengers series from a combat standpoint. His epithet "Invincible Mikey" speaks to his strength and how revered he is by the other gangs. He is strong enough to incapacitate other members of the elite gang with a single kick, and his enemies often remark that they cannot believe he is only a teenager. He favors kicks, as they cause much more damage and eliminate his height disadvantage, allowing him to fight taller opponents. Although he has excellent kicking abilities, his kicks have been known to smash cars. The destructive power of his legs is so infamous that his kicks are considered "nuclear". In addition to his fighting skills, Mikey has outstanding physical abilities that manifest in many aspects. For example, his lightning-fast reflexes make him immune to surprise attacks. His leg strength is such that he can not only lift the person holding him with one leg, but also use that same leg to deliver a devastating, instant knockout blow to another opponent, defeating both instantly. It was later shown that the combined forces of Draken, Mitsui, Chifuyu, and Pei-yan were unable to defeat Mikey.

Unlike most criminals, Mikey has actual martial arts training, which he has been honing since he was a child. He has also been recognized as a martial arts prodigy. This makes his fighting sense, flexibility, and reflexes unmatched. His signature move and finishing move is a high right roundhouse kick thrown with blinding speed to the opponent's temple, which takes all but the strongest opponents by surprise. He grabs the opponent's head and slams it into the ground. Almost everyone who gets hit by this kick is instantly knocked out. This kick has also been thrown with Mikey's left leg.

Mikey also displays amazing endurance and durability. He has taken blows that would knock out most people, yet he still shakes himself off and continues to fight. Several times, when he has been knocked out, he quickly recovers. Even when he is beaten and suffers potentially fatal injuries, his offensive capabilities are not diminished at all, to the point where he is able to knock out an opponent with a single headbutt, despite having been hit with a pipe multiple times.

Mikey is blessed with an unparalleled charisma, noted by insiders and rival criminals alike, allowing him to keep his crew in line and earn the respect of other gang leaders. However, this charisma is a double-edged sword, as while he is able to rally and lead the entire criminal underworld under his banner, this power can easily be twisted and become incredibly destructive. By manipulating Mikey for evil, third parties are able to effectively use Mikey's charisma for their own ends, creating the most dangerous gangs possible in the present across multiple timelines, and ruling behind the scenes as the true leaders.

Mikey has a rather unique and rather keen sense of intuition, which manifests itself in various, somewhat supernatural ways. When he first met Takemichi, he was somehow able to tell that he was no ordinary high school student, though he was unable to fully understand Takemichi's true nature and remained somewhat suspicious of who and what he was, due to his ability to somewhat predict future events. When Takemichi grabbed Mikey's hand in the present, traveling 10 years into the past, Mikey of that time was able to sense that Takemichi had time-jumped again. Another manifestation of intuition comes from his deep connection with his friends. Because of this, Mikey is able to sense their will. He correctly guessed that Mitsuya was going to do something on Christmas night, and even determined his location, saving his friends from a difficult situation. He claims that he was guided by the souls of his older brother and Baji.

As the younger brother of Shinichiro, an expert mechanic, Mikey has extensive knowledge of machinery, particularly motorcycles. He is skilled at repairing and assembling motorcycle parts.

The name Manjiro means "ten thousand" (万) (man), "next" (次) (ji), and "son" (郎) (ro). Mikey's nickname translated from English means "Who is like God?"/"Who is like the Lord?" Mikey is a short form of the name Michael. The surname Sano means "help, assistance" (佐) (sa) and "field, desert" (野) (no).
